Looking forward to sharing our adventures and holidays with you… by @wearactivecroatia

Vis is an enchanting escape from reality- unless your reality happens to be kayaking and paddle boarding in crystal clear waters, biking in vineyards, cliff jumping and snorkelling in search of underwater caves!

We think the experiences offered outside your accommodation are one of the key factors in turning a good holiday into a great one.

Let us help you explore Vis Island this summer.

Be part of the WearActive adventure, our season starts on the 25th May….

We are back on Vis. Now we are in the early stages of making our old stooge house into a home again. A home for us and a home for our guests who will hopefully joining us the summer.

We are proud of the base we have made for our active holidays on the Croatian Island of Vis. Full of rustic charm that our traditional house offers, with a comfortable modern touch.

Lovely to have a coffee sat outside a cafe in Vis town, feeling the sun on our face and chatting to friendly faces.

If you are looking for an adventure in Croatia let us know!

One of the best things about my new super light kayak from @orukayak is that I can take it pretty much anywhere.

No trailers, no hassle and no need to hire a boat. I was able to carry my kayak on the morning ferry for just over €3 from Komiza and 45 minutes later I was launching my kayak from Mezoporat on Biševo. Suddenly a whole island to explore! I absolutely love that freedom.

Everyone focuses on the Blue Cave, but for me and my kayaking friend, it’s the Medvidina špilja, the Monk Seal Cave that left us speechless! A spectacular sea cave with a huge entrance, reaching around 27 metres high, which stretches some 160 metres into the rock before narrowing down to a tiny beach at the far end. It was once a refuge for the endangered Mediterranean monk seal, which gave the cave its name. Kayaking into the long pitch black cavern and then swimming within this incredible natural space was pretty special.

Taking our time paddling around the island, exploring every cave, inlet and selfishly having the coastline to ourselves was our reward for our early morning start.

The ferry picked us up from Porat Bay after 16 km of paddling just as the sun was setting. We shared the ferry with one chatty Ukrainian tourist and four locals, Biševac,
who had been busy harvesting olives and were taking the olives across to Vis for pressing.

We need days like these. Time to get out, explore and be reminded of how lucky we are to call this island home. It keeps our passion for Vis alive, and gives us so many more stories and special places to share with our guests.

Our Summer 2027 dates are live!

We’re doing things a little differently next summer, with a shorter season so we can protect the energy, passion and quality that make a WearActive holiday so special.

We’ve always loved the quieter magic of the end of May, June and September. The warmer days, beautiful landscapes, fewer crowds and a little more breathing space to truly enjoy everything Vis Island has to offer.

As temperatures rise and the peak summer weeks get busier, these are the months we love most — and the ones we’re excited to share with you.

So, if you’re dreaming of active days on the water, exploring hidden corners of the island, connecting with nature and slowing down a little, our Summer 2027 dates are now on the website!

We can’t wait to welcome you back to our favourite season on Vis.

Sometimes the greatest adventures are right on our doorstep.

We packed up the Land Rover, threw in the tent, and set off to explore the Western Balkan countries of Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Albania. The focus was chasing wild lakes, winding gorges, towering mountains and those quiet places where nature reminds you to slow down and take it all in.

Living and working on Vis Island, we feel really lucky to have this incredible landscape so close to home. From the Adriatic Sea to the mountains, rivers and lakes of the Balkans, there is so much beauty to discover if we take the time to explore it.

For us at WearActive, it was about more than just a road trip. It was about reconnecting with nature, appreciating what’s available to us, and reminding ourselves why outdoor adventures, wild places and time spent outside matter to us so much.

And this is exactly what inspires the holidays we create on Vis. We want our guests to experience that same feeling of adventure, to discover the beauty around them, try something new, and connect with nature in a way that stays with them long after they leave.

Whether it’s paddling along the coastline, exploring hidden coves, hiking the island trails or simply slowing down and enjoying being outdoors, it’s about making the most of the incredible places we have around us.

As summer slowly gives way to September on Vis Island, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who chose to spend their holiday with us at WearActive. 💙

Thank you for your understanding of our water pressure issues and we really appreciated how tolerant everyone was while patiently waiting to fill up their water bottle! A masterclass in mindfulness 🥴

It’s been a beautiful, hot and unforgettable summer filled with sunshine, movement, adventure, laughter and wonderful memories.

Now, Vis is beginning to change its rhythm. The intense summer heat softens, the island becomes a little quieter, the sea takes on a different glow, and nature begins its gentle transition into autumn. We even had rain today!

September brings its own kind of magic,
warm days, peaceful mornings and the feeling that the island is breathing a little slower.

Thank you for being part of our summer, for sharing your energy with us and for making so many special memories on this little island we love.

See you on Vis — We will keep you updated on our dates for next season.

The first wonderful photo of the last guests of our summer, was taken by @zeausol and the second picture has been modified by AI….a kind of Vis Island before and after the season vibe 😉

When kayaking around Vis, its important to follow a few key safety measures:

* Check the weather and marine forecast before setting out. Winds such as the bura (strong northeasterly) and jugo (southeasterly) can create dangerous conditions very quickly.
* Stay close to shore unless you’re experienced and equipped for open-water paddling.
* Tell someone your route and expected return time.
* Carry a phone in a dry bag so you can call for help if needed.
* Wear sun protection, current Croatian sun can be intense!
* Bring plenty of drinking water.
* Use appropriate footwear to protect against sharp rocks and sea urchins when launching or landing.
* Be aware of shipping lanes.
* Know your limits. If the sea becomes rough or the wind strengthens, head to the nearest safe landing point rather than trying to continue.

Alternatively allow us to help you, advise you and check those details for you. That’s the advantage of having us as a guide. Plus we know all the best places to kayak!

See you on the water….

This International Yoga Day, we celebrate balance, strength, and connection in one of the most beautiful locations on Vis Island.

Wrapped in nature and dressed for movement, we’re embracing every stretch, every breath, and every moment of calm.

We’re also remembering our sweet International yoga dog, Zora who loved to join us for our morning stretch and supervise everyone.

Week 1 of the season = unforgettable firsts 🌊☀️

This week was all about stepping outside comfort zones, trying something new, and making memories together on Vis Island 🇭🇷💙

For some of our guests this week..

✨ First time kayaking through crystal-clear waters
🥗 First time discovering how delicious vegan food can be
🏄 First time paddle boarding — and first time falling into the Adriatic 😄
👫 First time on a small group holiday and then meeting people who instantly felt like friends
🧘 First time practicing yoga

What made this week so special for us was being part of one guest’s journey back to kayaking. After losing confidence following an injury, getting back on the water was a big step. Watching that confidence return with every trip—and seeing the smiles afterwards—was truly heartwarming. 🛶💙

Rested, inspired, energised, and already thinking about coming back. This is the energy we’re bringing into the season. And we’re only getting started 🚣‍♀️✨

Message us if you want to be part of the adventure, we have a room available on the 27th June ❤️

Our season starts on the 23rd May. Time for us to put the kayaks by the water in Rukavac bay, service the bikes and check all the equipment. Some of our adventures are without equipment, they just involve an element of trust. Trusting us to lead you to our favorite places on Vis Island or trusting Craig when he says ‘follow me’

If you are looking for hospitality that stretches to a daily explore and adventure then get in touch.

Happy Easter, Sretan Uskrs, Frohe Ostern.....

We are about to start our last week in the mountains at @moaalmretreat before we head back to Croatia and our home on Vis Island. It’s been a wonderful winter of inspiring guests, an amazing team, special shout out to @sophievzezschwitz and @tobias_wenske and lots of days on the snow.

Time to switch the skis, snowshoes and snowboards for bikes and kayaks in preparation for our opening week on the 23rd May.

Thank you @_amywarren for this lovely fun picture of the two of us.
