HELLO! It’s Michelle & Kirsty, the founders of Brighter Works. 👋

We wanted to explain a little bit about how we work.

At the moment, all of our workshops are designed from scratch: every customer gets something bespoke.

But every workshop is also based around the things we believe in very strongly…

- Confidence is built through doing. The doing is the learning!! Participants will practise realistic scenarios, in their own voice (then get feedback, adjust, and try again).

- Confidence starts within the body. How you stand, move, and speak shapes how you come across, and how you feel. So we use grounding, posture, pace, breath and voice exercises to bring people into the room, and out of their own heads.

- Being brave can be playful. We love playing! When something feels fun, people take more risks. So we use games to lower the stakes, increase participation, and build a bit of resilience.

- Breakthroughs come from reflection. Repetition is important, but so is pausing. We build in plenty of time for discussion, and we ask how an exercise “feels”, to make sure the insights stick. by @wearebrighterworks

What’s your top trick for getting someone to reveal their name... without letting on that you’ve completely forgotten it??

Don’t confuse having a strong voice with having the loudest voice.

Confidence is a feeling of trust, self-assurance, or certainty in your own abilities, another person or a plan.

Dominance is the state or quality of being more powerful, important or successful than others, or of exercising control and authority over a group, system or environment.

Who else is being a sneaky little sneaker out there?

Jotting some notes down to remember things about new people you meet is the easiest little friend-making hack. It makes someone feel warm and fuzzy when you remember their child’s name or the city they were born in or the instrument they’ve just taken up! Even if its just their name you’re trying to remember, give it a try… 📝

Say it with us:

Practice breeds confidence. Practice breeds confidence. Practice breeds confidence. Practice breeds confidence. Practice breeds confidence. Practice breeds confidence. Practice breeds confidence. Practice breeds confidence. Practice breeds confidence. Great. Now go do it. 💪 ✨

Some musings on confidence vs authenticity after a very lovely dinner out.

Sometimes we can do “all the right things” to give a slick, confident impression of ourselves but if we lose our genuine selves in the process, we lose our audience.

Five words that make your blood run cold. 🥶

What you say in your introduction or elevator pitch or whatever you want to call it doesn’t have to be COMPLETELY off the cuff. It also doesn’t have to be COMPLETELY over-rehearsed.

Thinking about WHO your audience is, WHAT you want them to remember about you and WHY you love what you do can help you craft an intro that’s flexible, specific and memorable for the right reasons.

Practising it (out loud, please!) with different people or scenarios in mind keeps things playful and stops it from becoming scripted and stale.

Some thoughts after a slightly odd experience at a networking event 🚽 👋

We are still absolutely buzzing from last week’s workshop! ☀️

It was SUCH fun to host a Networking Skills workshop for Alpha Group / THE LINE_ as part of their summer social for THE LINE UP (a gorgeous event for up-and-coming finance/ops professionals in private markets, in the beautiful Sabine Holborn rooftop bar 😍).

Well done & thank you to everyone who came along, threw themselves into some fun ice-breakers, listened to us intently, chatted loads, and hopefully made some new friends! (While enjoying some delicious food & drinks...) 🥰

And a huge thank you Alice Murray for having us, and putting on such a lush night. 🥂 🩷 by @wearebrighterworks

Anyone else been there?
Hoping your weeks are dreamy, and all your future interviews are flawlessss ✨
