🏆 Congratulations to Ellen Sledge, one of our 2026 Anne M. Janiak Leadership Grant winners! Ellen is the founder of Penny Lick Ice Cream Company in Mamaroneck. Since 2013, she has built a business around a simple promise: every family, including those living with food allergies, deserves to enjoy a trip to the ice cream shop. She leads her team with care and gives back generously to the community around her. @pennylickicecream The Anne M. Janiak Leadership Grant recognizes women entrepreneurs who lead with purpose, and WEDC is proud to support Ellen as she continues to grow. We will celebrate Ellen at our Night of 1,000 Successes gala on November 4. 💙 by @wedcbiz

After a career helping others tell their stories, sharing my own has been a meaningful new chapter. 📖 This National Authors’ Day, I’m looking back at the launch of More Than a Crown: From Pageants to Purpose…Lessons from a Life Unfolding with so much gratitude. Pictured here with Cheryl Benton of @thethreetomatoespublishing at my book launch at @kanopitherestaurant. Thank you, Cheryl, for helping bring my story into the world! Within these pages are the experiences that shaped me—from pageantry and professional milestones to deeply personal challenges, reinvention, and learning to begin again. My hope is that sharing those lessons offers encouragement to someone navigating an uncertain chapter of their own. Thank you to everyone who has read the book, recommended it, attended an event, or shared how a part of my story resonated with yours. Those connections mean so much to me. I’m also honored to be receiving the Inspiring Author Award at @wedcbiz’s Night of 1000 Successes this Wednesday, November 4, from 6–8 p.m. at @reid.castle.events at Manhattanville University. I’d love to celebrate with you! 🤝 100+ local businesses under one roof. On Thursday, Cynthia Marsh-Croll, Director of our Mid-Hudson Women’s Business Center, joined the Orange County Chamber of Commerce Business Expo in Middletown, a free public event where neighbors could meet local businesses and the people behind them.
