The energy secretary Miatta Fahnbulleh has joined housing secretary Angela Rayner in opposing the racist and classist ‘Earned Settlement’ proposals. As our Advocacy and Comms Director @seemasyeda told Nick Ferrari on LBC News this morning, these proposals must be withdrawn in their entirety and their should be a maximum wait of five years for any person to achieve settled status. by @wf_migrant_action

Sharing this beautiful Walthamstow mural and portrait of dub poet and activist Linton Kwesi Johnson, in celebration of Black History Month and migrants in our communities. You may also notice the hummingbird to the right, in the colours of the Palestinian flag. The humminbird is a symbol of joy, resilience, adaptability, and emotional renewal … and we certainly need it as we mark three years of genocide against the Palestinian people. 🍉 by @wf_migrant_action
📣 Some good news to end the week. The cruel, unworkable ‘one in, one out’ deal with France has been scrapped 🙌🏽 But remember, it’s just one of many anti-migrant policies on the table at the moment - including the Asylum and Immigration Bill going through Parliament right now! On Monday, during her speech at Labour Party Conference, Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood seemed to soften her tone a little ... but will she go far enough? 🤔 We need her to scrap the Bill and give people seeking safety the opportunity to rebuild their lives in the UK.  This is why we are supporting @rmjustice_uk campaign and encouraging our supporters to contact their MPs to call on the Home Secretary to Scrap the Bill. Let’s keep up the pressure 💥 Click the 🔗 in our bio to find out more about the campaign and how to contact your MP! #refugeeswelcome #migrants are our #community by @wf_migrant_action
Earlier this week, Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband shared findings from a report that found that the collapse of natural systems around the world would lead to conflict, migration and food shortages. Meanwhile, far-right agitator D. Th0mas filmed himself slashing a boat with a rescue worker on board. On Sunday, Labour MPs will heading to Liverpool for Party Conference. But will they address the growing crises we face? Will the Home Secretary stop pandering to the far-right and shelve hostile policies? Together we can still STOP ‘earned settlement’ proposals … but time is running out. Email your MP today! 👆🏽link in our bio. With thanks to @migrants_rights_network ‘Not a Stranger’ campaign and @jcwi_uk Migrants are our community 🧡 by @wf_migrant_action
An important reminder outside @friendshouseldn: This is not a migrant crisis. This is a crisis of inequality, war and climate change. #migrants are our #community 🧡 by @wf_migrant_action
The London Assembly has criticised London’s six Green Councils for opposing immigration enforcement raids. Read our quote in the @walthamforestecho - 🔗in bio. Full statement below: WFMA is at the forefront of providing free immigration and welfare advice to migrants in our community. We are very concerned by anti-migrant policies that seek to withhold and criminalise the right of people to seek refuge. One of the many consequences of hostile environment policies is an exponential increase in immigration enforcement - such as raids, detentions and deportations. Immigration enforcement doesn’t keep communities safe. It instills a sense of mistrust, fear and division. We have seen the impact on migrant communities affected by ICE raids in the U.S.. But we have ICE here too. Between October 2024 and September 2025, there were 21,917 raids on communities across the UK - a 38% increase on the previous year. As an organisation, we work to build a community where everyone - regardless of their immigration status - is safe, welcome, and treated with dignity and respect. We campaigned, alongside others in Waltham Forest, for a borough of sanctuary, where the Council would no longer be complicit in multi-agency immigration enforcement raids. We welcome the new Green Party led Council’s commitment to working together to make Waltham Forest a true borough of sanctuary. #community #solidarity by @wf_migrant_action
A statement from our director: "Reading Under Milk Wood makes me think of my grandmother. She did a Creative Writing MA in her 80s with the goal of writing out her life story - not to be published, but for us, her grandkids. Like Dylan Thomas, she was using words to share her memories of the place she came from - in her case, the place she fled as a child refugee, arriving in England in the 30s. Our adaptation of the original play incorporates those themes of migration and refugeeism alongside Thomas's original themes of memory, time and place. And so we wanted to connect with Waltham Forest Migrant Action to promote their brilliant work and their new home at @stmaryswalthamstow through our production. We are very honoured to team with them for this performance." 🔥Tickets in bio🔥 by @wf_migrant_action
‼️ Important notice ‼️ There will be NO provision of Welfare Advice at the drop-in on Fridays 11, 18 & 25 September 2026. Normal welfare services will resume on Friday 02 October 2026. We apologise for any inconvenience🧡 by @wf_migrant_action
🚨WE KEEP US SAFE Join us THIS Friday, 4th September, for an anti-raids workshop in partnership with @migrants_rights_network & @antiraidswalthamforest. The number of Immigration Enforcement raids is increasing exponentially. There were 21,917 raids in the UK between Oct. 2024 & Sept. 2025 - that’s 38% more than in the previous year! Raids are an extension of racist border controls. They target particular nationalities seen as ‘easily removable’, bringing fear and disruption that affect all members of a community. Together we can build community resistance! ➡️ To register, click 🔗 in bio. by @wf_migrant_action
