Having a baby is the best thing to ever happen to me ❤️ but it’s also physically and mentally the worst, as it’s left me with urinary stress incontinence - I leak heavily even when I walk.

I went into hospital anxious about labour, as I’m a gal who needs control. Never in a million years did I imagine leaving feeling 90 years old, and nearly peeing my pants on a daily basis 🥲

My labour was long - induction will do that to you… and gorgeous Isla blocked my catheter for a while (cheers babes) so the damage wasn’t great.

I had to push for appointments during the most vulnerable time in my life, and was finally diagnosed with stress incontinence.

Fast forward 13 weeks and I’m finally on a physio plan, wearing pessary devices to help minimise the daily leakage, applying estrogen down below to plump my tissues, using pelvic floor trainers and wearing incontinence pads or pants on the daily.

Like with any muscle, it takes time to heal and build strength back up. I know I won’t be like this for life, but do I feel robbed of my maternity leave experience? God yes ✨

The amount of times I’ve nearly been in tears seeing mums with baby carriers… I can’t even wear one due to the pressure and constant weeing 😖

I’m extremely grateful to have a healthy baby girl, but I can still be grieving my old body too.

I will get better ✊🏼 as they say, the only way through is through…

Sending love to anyone else having their own postpartum struggles - my DMs are always open (unlike my legs, which will be closed until further notice, sorry Dan) 😄😄😄

Isla Marion Sharp 💖✨👶🏻 Born 24th June at 8.45pm weighing a beautiful 8lbs 2oz

It was an up and down birth, which ended with us staying in hospital for a week, but we are all home safe and sound

We adore you little bean 🫘

Not every day of pregnancy has been easy, but each day brings me closer to you 💖✨👶🏻

I cannot thanks the fabulous @jessrigleyportraits enough for such a wonderful shoot. You captured how I feel perfectly, and I can’t wait to show Baby Sharp how sassy her mum is 👏🏼

For Halloween 2026 I’m going as an incontinent zombie mum 😄

I’ve seen some fab costumes and makeup on here so far, so I’m sharing my old looks - back when I had a passion for SFX makeup ❤️

Who knows, maybe I’ll hand the makeup brush down to Isla Bear one day 🥹

Happy Halloween pals!

If you don’t have a laugh during really tough times, you’ll most certainly cry 💔

This week I went to be fitted with an incontinence ring, to help stop the leakage as my body continues to heal. Unfortunately it was too big for me and I couldn’t wee, so had to take the beast out.

You’re likely thinking the same thing as me when you see it “GOD THAT’S HUGE!” And yes, she is. But if it worked for me I wouldn’t even care. I did cry when I saw it - a reminder of my reality as a new mum 😔 but I need to embrace anything that gives me a better quality of life

Next steps are getting a smaller size and complaining about my interaction with the rudest nurse I’ve ever encountered

Thank you to everyone who has reached out to me during my journey - I won’t ever forget the kindness this little corner of the internet has bestowed on me 💞

Since becoming a mum and experiencing birth trauma, I’m hyper sensitive to anything which shows a dream birth, newborn bubble or postpartum experience ❤️

Yes, these lives do exist, but for many it’s not reality. My labour was 25 hours, with a litre and a half of blood lost, an episiotomy and urine incontinence - hence the zombie state of my real picture

I find it hard seeing this person - a woman who just wanted to sleep and be taken care of. I want to give her a hug and tell her how brilliant she is 👏🏼

I’m on a journey and mission to highlight the reality of being a new mum, wet knickers and all

42 today 🎈Never in a million years did I expect to have my baby girl & be living with severe incontinence ❤️

But here we are. Still shining, still living and still worthy of love, life and everything in between. When I saw @ashleylouisejames share her story, I was blown away, sat in front of the TV in tears feeling seen and less alone.

Did you know 1 in 3 women will experience incontinence in their lives? Whether that’s from childbirth, menopause of hormonal changes.

I’m trying my best to advocate for myself and all my fellow leaky ladies. It is NOTHING to be ashamed of, you’re not broken and there will be a way through.

I’m still on my own journey, but I’m proud of what my body has given me, and what it will continue to do as I heal.

42 is going to teach me my most valuable life lessons, I just know it ✊🏼

Love seeing this trend 🥰 having a baby girl is as magical as I imagined, even with my own nappy situation going on.

If Isla had a phone I’d imagine it to be a Nokia 5210. Momma’s off to top up your credit babe 📱

I never expected to leave hospital with bladder incontinence after birth 💔

After a long labour (25 hours) and Isla’s head moving my catheter 🥴 my bladder became stretched, and now I have full leaks if I don’t make it to the toilet, and little dribbles throughout the day.

But I’m not feeling sorry for myself and I don’t want others to either 💪🏼 don’t get me wrong, I’ve had days where I panic and feel trapped, worrying that this new existence is now permanent - but this is my current season, not a constant winter 💖

Here’s to the mommas who are struggling with physical health post birth, I see you, I feel you and I’ve got you!
