This wild ride that has been competing for Dimond Gymnastics is finally coming to a bittersweet end. First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone who showed up for me at todayโ€™s senior meet. Your support means the world to me in my final gymnastics moments. Joining the Dimond Gymnastics team had been a dream of mine since I was about 10 years old, when they brought to program back to ASD. I was there at every meet, flashing scores, and sitting with the girls who became the people I looked up to. I am so incredibly grateful for everyone who made my dream of competing for Dimond come true. Thank you to my teammates from freshman year until now, for encouraging me to do my best every day in the gym. Thank you to my family for having my back and standing up for me when things didnโ€™t go my way especially when the gymnastics program that I love so dearly was on the chopping block. Thank you to my friends for having so much faith in me. If gymnastics has taught me anything it is to be confident and consistent, and to recognize the power of my voice. The gym has become my outlet in a way nothing else possibly could have and I could not fathom losing that right before my senior year. As many of you know, I was given the most amazing opportunity last February and was able to travel to Juneau with other ASD student leaders on behalf of advocating for education funding. It was an eye-opening experience and sparked my interest in speaking up for what I care about. I have now testified and given speeches about saving our sports in ASD and adequate education funding more times than I can count and Iโ€™m entirely proud of how the outcome of that has impact me and so many others in ASD and even across Alaska. My very last thank you goes out to the most amazing Coach I could ever ask for. After my freshman and sophomore years I was not looking forward to coming back to the gym in early August, yet Coach Danielle stepped up and made me feel so valued and appreciated. Thank you for brining back my love of gymnastics. As there is only one more meet left in my gymnastics career, I will take this time to formally sign off. Thank you all.
