As the host of the New Zealand Hill Climb Series it was only fitting that Carl got himself a pair of our light weight R25 wheels with Alpina Carbolite spokes 😍

1080 gram actual-weight. Despite a weight which would have been a noodly hillclimb only wheelset a few years ago these are full-featured with a 25mm internal-width, 45mm deep, hooked bead, tubeless ready rim and Dial R-SL hubs. by @wheelworkshandcraftedwheels

I’m stoked to have Wheelworks on board as Official Wheel Partner for the NZ Hill Climb Series this year.

I’m a big believer in Kiwi businesses backing each other, and these guys have been building wheels in Wellington for 20 years. Tristan is the best in the biz.

Wheelworks recently launched their new R25 carbon road wheelset, and it legit crushes the competition at its weight and price point. Plus you get their legendary build quality, service, and lifetime warranty.

New Zealand Hill Climb Series

A silver mullet? Yes please

#newwheelworksday for Renee

Front wheel:
Hope Pro5 Front Hub (J-bend 2.0mm, 6-bolt, 110x15 thru-axle, 32 hole, Blue)
DT Swiss FR-541 (622mm / 29", 32 hole, Silver)

Rear wheel:
Hope Pro5 Rear Hub (J-bend 2.0mm, 6-bolt, 148x12 thru-axle, 32 hole, Blue)
DT Swiss FR-541 (584mm / 27.5", 32 hole, Silver) by @wheelworkshandcraftedwheels

Not all wheels are lucky enough to be built by us the first time. This Rohloff was repeatedly breaking spokes at both the J-bend and the rim so we rebuilt it with some premium Alpina Extralite double-butted spokes and that should be the end of it's issues. by @wheelworkshandcraftedwheels

❗❗Warning: turn away now if you don't like purple❗❗

This pair of EnduroLites is heading to @bikeculture.nz and we can't wait to see the finished bike!

Purple Erase hubs and custom-faded Berd spokes from purple to white. EnduroLite rims with matching decals.

2 weeks to go.

The New Zealand Hill Climb Series 2026 runs 2 November to 6 December in nine cities: Auckland, Cambridge, Hawkes Bay, Manawatu, Nelson, New Plymouth, Queenstown, Taupo and Wellington.

How it works:
1. Test yourself on a weekly Strava segment
2. Enter your results
3. Track the live leaderboards

Target handicap or standard scoring, filter the leaderboards by age, gender and club, win a coffee shout from Ride Holidays, earn the Mad Dawg badge, and feel the pride that comes from giving everything.

1122 grams ready to roll with tubeless tape and valves 😍

The R25 road wheelset with Alpina Carbolite spokes and Dial R-SL hubs is extremely light and it's 45mm deep, 25mm wide rims are the perfect balance of aero and crosswind stability.

At $2750 this might be the most performant wheelset on the market 🤔 by @wheelworkshandcraftedwheels

Pro5 singlespeed hubs in a W:one wheelset? No problem

✅Alpina double-butted spokes
✅Sapim brass nipples
✅Laser etched unique wheel number
✅Built and supported right here in NZ by @wheelworkshandcraftedwheels

Alex supplied the silver Chris King hubs and Zipp 303 XPLR rims - we took care of the rest.

The silver Alpina Ultralite Round spokes look fantastic 😍 by @wheelworkshandcraftedwheels

Pretty happy with a 11th place in New Zealand school nationals which shows that all my training and hard work I have been putting in is going good. Wish I wasn't sick as I felt like I had a bit more to give but just couldn't due to my legs not having full strength.

Thanks a lot to my supporters
@wheelworkshandcraftedwheels the wheel support, which hold up great for my riding (if you know me well you would know my bikes tend to take a beating)

@iridewgtn for the support for general parts and etc.

@crankbrothers for the pedals and other product support by @wheelworkshandcraftedwheels
