Happy World Dracula Day! 🩇✹ Sink your fangs into today's celebrations! While our favorite Blue Heeler vampire is busy zoomie-ing past spooky castles, we are looking at why May 26th is the ultimate holiday for horror fans, goth icons, and literature lovers alike. Whether you are wearing a cape, enjoying the full moon, or just hugging your favorite furry monster, here is why today is so special: â€‹đŸ§›â€â™‚ïž Why May 26th is Significant The Birth of a Legend: On May 26, 1897, Irish author Bram Stoker officially published his epistolary masterpiece, Dracula. The novel laid the structural blueprint for modern vampire lore. The Real "Dracula": Stoker's character was loosely inspired by Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia (commonly known as Vlad the Impaler), born in the Transylvanian region. His patronymic name was Dracul (derived from the Latin draco, meaning dragon). Cultural Immortality: Dracula holds a Guinness World Record for the most portrayed literary character in horror cinema, appearing in hundreds of films, reimagined across every era. Pop-Culture Evolution: From Stoker’s terrifying shadow to Nosferatu, Bela Lugosi’s suave count, Castlevania, and even adorable cartoon and anime adaptations, the character completely transformed how the world views the supernatural. Fun Fact: Bram Stoker originally intended to name his famous vampire "Count Wampyr." It wasn't until he did deeper historical research at a library in Whitby that he stumbled upon the name Dracula! How are you or did you do any celebrating of World Dracula Day? Drop a favorite vampire movie recommendation below? 👇 by @whiskeytxdog

Who’s joining me for the Great Backyard Bird Count? Whiskey‑TxDog is currently meditating in front of the electric fireplace like a tiny blue‑speckled philosopher, plotting her bird‑watching strategy. I’m updating my Cornell Lab profile, my Merlin app is ready for action, and my birding playbook is open like I’m prepping for the Backyard Super Bowl. But you know why? Every year I participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count as part of a global invitation from ornithologists and community science researchers who want everyone — from seasoned birders to curious beginners — to learn how vital birds are to our ecosystems and to help contribute to real scientific research. Meanwhile, Whiskey has fully committed to her role in this operation and has given herself an unofficial bird ID . Because in her mind, she is absolutely part of the avian community now. Common Name: Whiskey‑TxDog, the Furry Bird Scientific Name: Canis plumarius aspiratus Self‑Assigned Bird Name: “The Blue‑Speckled Hearth Wren.” Field Notes: A rare Gulf Coast species known for attempting to “become one with the birds” through intense fireplace meditation, strategic tail wags, and deep philosophical reflection. She has begun thinking like a bird, practicing her head tilts, perfecting her perch stance on the arm of the couch, and observing cardinals with the focus of a creature who believes she is moments away from sprouting wings. Call: A determined huff followed by the sound of a dog who is absolutely convinced she should be logged in eBird as a “fluff‑winged companion species.” The Great Backyard Bird Count is a global, four‑day event created by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the National Audubon Society, and Birds Canada. Anyone can join in. All it takes is at least 15 minutes outside, counting whatever feathered neighbors show up. Every checklist helps researchers understand migration, population shifts, and long‑term environmental changes. If you want to join me, the steps are simple and free. You can read the how‑to straight from the source: https://www.birdcount.org/participate/ Let me know in the comments if you’re joining me! #greatbackyardbirdcount #getbirding #texasbirds by @whiskeytxdog
Plans today: becoming a certified blanket burrito. This H‑Town freeze hit and I said absolutely not. I tucked myself into this blanket like a seasoned professional and claimed the couch as my kingdom. The fireplace is crackling, the humans are tiptoeing around me so they don’t disturb my masterpiece of coziness, and I’m over here living my best winter life. Texas weather may be confused, but I’m not. I know exactly what to do when the temperature drops—wrap up, stretch out, and supervise the household from my warm little cocoon. No cattle to herd, no squirrels to chase, no responsibilities except staying adorable and toasty. If you need me, I’ll be right here

I showed up at CTT Oil Exploration & Cattle this morning with my tail high and my paws ready, because apparently I have a job now. Land-dog A real one. With responsibilities. And expectations. And humans who think they’re in charge. They handed me the title “Well Service Operations Manager (Unofficial),” which sounds impressive, but let’s be honest — I’ve been running this place since the moment my paws hit the dirt. I’m a Blue Heeler Cattle Dog. Agile, alert, speckled, slightly feral, and built for ranch work, oilfield chaos, and keeping everyone in line with one well‑timed glare. At first, I was excited. Truly. I trotted in like, “Let’s get this show on the road.” Then someone mentioned that I actually have to work. Like
attend meetings. Supervise humans. Pretend to understand paperwork. Suddenly I’m wondering if this job comes with PTO for squirrel surveillance or at least a snack stipend. And honestly? Looking around at this crew, I guess the company will hire anyone. Including a bossy little cattle dog with a union rep attitude and zero interest in doing tasks that don’t involve treats. Still, I’m here. I’m committed. I’m the smallest, loudest, most determined operations manager in West Texas. And if anyone needs me, I’ll be out back conducting a very important risk assessment on a suspicious tumbleweed. The oilfield will adjust. #Landman #Landdog #cttoilexplorationandcattle #blueheeler by @whiskeytxdog
