🦷💜Happy Dental Hygiene Month! 💜🦷

Dental hygiene is more than a career to me. It’s part of my everyday life. From teaching future dental hygienists at Iowa Western (Dexter is always a fun part of the experience! 😆) to connecting with amazing people in our profession and finding ways to support one another, I’m reminded of how much this profession means to me.

I may not post here as often as I’d like, but I’m celebrating dental hygiene every day! This month is a great reminder to pause, show some love, and celebrate the people who make this profession so special.

A highlight was collaborating with Andau Medical at the NDHA Fun Run to give away a Cloud Pillow and support an event that brings awareness to oral cancer and the important role dental hygienists play in early detection. 💚

To all the dental hygienists, educators, students, and industry partners who continue to make a difference in oral health and in each other’s lives — thank you for being part of this profession!

Incredibly honored to be awarded with the Nebraska Dental Hygienists of the Year. I have a huge passion for this profession. I am forever grateful for my family and friends for their support - couldn't do all that I do without them💜 @nebraskadha by @whitney.dentistry.rebalanced

I had a great time working with the @metrowestop team on their ergonomics! 🙌 Big shoutout to Inseer - this ergonomic AI technology has been a great addition to my assessments and workshops. Being able to see their posture in real-time gives clients valuable feedback and a new perspective on how small adjustments can make a big difference. Excited to keep using this tool to help dental professionals work more comfortably! 💪✨ #ErgonomicsInDentistry #AIinErgonomics #DentistryRebalanced Video Credit: @metrowestop by @whitney.dentistry.rebalanced

Grateful for the opportunity to share my passion with the dental hygienists of Nebraska! Presented my ergonomics and movement workshop with @nebraskadha. Led the group through an energizing @essentrics class to help rebalance muscles and demoed key ergonomic principles for a healthier, pain-free practice!

Big thanks to @lumadent for sponsoring this course, @crownseatingstools for providing a saddle stool giveaway, @pattersondental for the operatory chair used in the demo, and @fabletics for hooking me up with some awesome athletic wear. by @whitney.dentistry.rebalanced

Had a great audience at the NDA Annual Session last week. Big thanks to @lumadent @crownseatingstools and @pattersondental for all their support. Also, can't forget the marvelous @marjeanstamm for being my "patient". Looking forward to the @nebraskadha Annual Session next week!! by @whitney.dentistry.rebalanced

Coming to a CE near you! Super excited to collaborate with our local @pattersondental. They will be providing an A-dec operatory chair for demos at my upcoming ergonomic courses with NDA and NDHA. I will be raffling off a @crownseatingstools saddle stool at both events! And...you'll get to see @lumadent 's ErgoPrism loupes in action. Who's coming?!?! Hope to see you there!

Calling all hygienists! 📢 Excited to share my latest piece in @rdhmag. Let's shift gears and work smarter, not harder - guiding behavior change for our patients. Adjustments in our approach can yield powerful results in empowering them to embrace healthier habits.

While my main passion within hygiene is ergonomics, I also am a huge advocate for our profession. I am currently the President of the Nebraska Dental Hygienists' Association. I had an opportunity to provide testimony on behalf of the association during a Medicaid hearing for reimbursement changes in Nebraska. We strongly encouraged more support and expansion for our Public Health Dental Hygienists in Nebraska. They are making a difference - especially in rural areas! Increasing the
representation of Public Health Dental Hygienists and their services not only honors their impactful work
on the front lines of oral health improvement but also signifies a proactive step in decreasing healthcare disparities in Nebraska. by @whitney.dentistry.rebalanced

Look closely 👀 - Ergo loupes doing double duty 🤣 Came upon this during an ergonomic and instrumentation workshop. Read on for my two main recommendations..

1. Have the patient scoot all the way up so their head is fully on the headrest. This will allow the clinician to be closer to the patient and achieve neutral posture more easily.

2. Notice the clinician is working on the maxilla. Adjust the chair and/or have patient tilt chin up so that the maxillary occlusal plane is perpendicular to the floor. This allows for much more ergonomic accessibility when working on the upper arch.
