first meet in the books!! officially qualified for collegiate nationals and got 2 🥇’s (as the only 56kg lmao but… still) SQUAT: 100 | 220.46 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ 107.5 | 237.00 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ (SHOWN) 110 | 242.51 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ (SHOWN; ATPR +2.51 lbs) BENCH: 42.5 | 93.70 ⚪️🔴🔴 (got distracted… missed start) 45 | 99.21 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ 47.5 | 104.72 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ (SHOWN) DEADLIFT: 115 | 253.53 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ 120 | 264.56 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ (SHOWN) 125 | 275.58 🔴🔴🔴 (SHOWN) OVERALL: 7/9 lifts, 277.5kg/611.78lb total i find it hard to be proud of myself when things don’t go perfectly, but i’m happy with today. above all, i’m grateful to be on the platform doing what i love, and i’m SO grateful for the supportive friends and team i have by my side 🫶🏼 especially @silverback_seize for dealing with my anxious ass and guiding me through it all lol. such an incredible coach — i couldn’t be anywhere near where i am without you. prep pushed me to a level of discipline i haven’t experienced before (from staying on program during winter break, to getting to the gym despite bad mental health days, to losing 7lbs in a week). i’m happy to say this is the worst you’ll see from me, and i’m more motivated than ever. let’s build 🫡 AND LET’S GET THAT 3RD DEADLIFT by @whits.lifts
300lbs has fallen (14lb ATPR) @ 115lbs bw. i’ve been chasing this weight since i started powerlifting 4 years ago, and all i could think about was little freshman whitney who let this weight slip out of her hands right before CNATs 🥲 less celebration than expected since i’m hard on myself and wanted to hold it for longer, but my left hand slipped. however, upon further consideration, i’m so proud of myself and shared some delayed tears of joy when i remembered how long i’ve waited for this. this barrier has finally been lifted. by @whits.lifts
285lb double ☎️🔐 just doubled my ATPR from before my 2 year break & feeling stronger than ever… 300lbs has never felt this close 🌠 by @whits.lifts
275lb double, fueled by yesterday’s dinner at texas roadhouse 🍞🥩🥗🌽 wanted 3. will be working on my grip strength so my next heavy dead doesn’t slip thru my fingers 🫡 by @whits.lifts
255lbs x 3 @ rpe ?? feeling like me again 🍯⭐️🍋 by @whits.lifts
hi 🐒 another sporadic update for ya! 225x3 on deads. not at my strongest, but i’m just happy to be here! i’ve put a lot of pressure on myself to lift heavy and consistently despite taking on two stem majors and being very active in extracurriculars. when i had a lot on my plate, my academics always ended up taking priority and lifting took the hit. each exam season, i got weaker and and less motivated, and it was progressively harder to get into the gym knowing i’d be lifting less. it also didn’t help that my glutes required extensive recovery, as i was constantly feeling pain after squats and deads. next thing i knew, a year had gone by and i had only lifted a handful of times. this summer, i decided to join a new gym with a fresh mindset. i started the summer barelyyy able to squat a plate or deadlift 200lbs - which would usually discourage me - but i was determined to bring lifting back into my life. if i can only make it to the gym twice a week … cool! i’ll be there. if i miss a week due to a big exam or event, i’ll be there the next. all this is to say that i was feeding into a negative feedback loop, and i’ve worked really hard to undo that mindset over the summer. i’ve learned to be humble - that if i’m so determined to lift heavy again, i have to start at these lower numbers and stick with it. the change in environment/community really helped this shift! now, i’m 3-4 months back to lifting and realizing why i missed it so much. i missed pushing myself to move my body and seeing the progress every week, and i really missed looking forward to the gym after a long day. just lifting on my own time now :) i think i’ll post more because i miss tracking progress like this and giving my friends updates 😁 so maybe you’ll see more of me! :p by @whits.lifts
took 225 for reps today 🥹 also hey, @alexia.jims :D by @whits.lifts
reflecting on my first full year of powerlifting with some of my favorite lifts 🕺🏼 from my first meet, to cnats, to a chaotic off season where i kept hurting my back and attempted sumo - i’m excited to take on whatever 2024 throws at me 🦩💖 by @whits.lifts
collegiate nationals… definitely a learning experience. it’s been a long day of beating myself up over my execution, but i’m regaining some perspective on what it took to get here. the first time i put a barbell on my back was december 2021, i didn’t start actually powerlifting until around april/may, committed to a coach in september and had my first meet this january. i’m grateful for the opportunity to experience powerlifting at this level in this short amt of time. now it’s fiiiiiiiinally time to grow, EAT, rest and recover. 🤩 S: 107.5kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️ 115kg ⚪️🔴🔴 [122.5kg ❌] B: [45kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️] 47.5kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️ [50kg ❌ lol?] D: 110kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️ 120kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️ [137.5kg ❌] 5/9 lifts @silverback_seize thank you for handling my prep, my lifts, and my emotions so carefully and wisely. i’m so grateful you have the reigns on my training, and i am beyond excited to see what we cook up for next time 🫡 @powerhouse_ofthecell + @bigmailifts i am so happy to have shared today with both of you <3 you’re both such strong, resilient women and you inspire me to push myself every day. i love you so much!! thank you to everyone who watched the livestream, came out in person (@grysvn @clareeh_lifts @hyperfixash @otter_seize), or kept up another way!! thank you for the faith you had and still have in me <3 i will not disappoint. @clareeh_lifts YOUR TURN!! so excited to watch you crush your lifts saturday 💜 by @whits.lifts
