Nothing but time 💀 by @whobodycreative

One of my favorite times of the year 🎃… designing Halloween merch for @meritcoffee. It’s available online and in their cafes starting today 💀 by @whobodycreative

New Ltd. Edt. Spring tee for @peachedtortilla. Available in-store or online. It’s a limited run – so grab one while you can.

Printing: @kongscreenprinting 🔥 by @whobodycreative

I was introduced to Eric (@projectpeached) a few months ago by one of my dear friends, Ryan (@kongscreenprinting).

Eric started @peachedtortilla as an Asian-fusion food truck just over 15 years ago. It feels weird to follow that with… “and now it’s grown to a fleet of trucks, two brick-and-mortars, a bar, a location in @ausairport, a 4,400+ sq. ft. event space, and an award-winning cookbook.” It’s not weird though if you get the chance to hear his story, like I did.

In the middle of one of our early calls, I asked “Man… I know you’re probably tired of answering this question - but I genuinely want to know… how did you go from being a lawyer, to starting a food truck, to where you are now.”

He told me story after story for the next 45 minutes.

It didn’t happen overnight. It took a level of sacrifice, consistency, and showing up that you just don’t really see much nowadays. Though the reality was sobering - it was incredibly inspiring.

I love getting to hear stories like his. The best though, was hearing it from him. It added a lot more depth and gravity to this project than simply “design something cool.”

If you know me, I love Easter eggs - not the hard-boiled kind, the hidden ones. The things that carry meaning, whether people notice them or not.

In design, it’s proof of thought and intention - of humanity. Someone thought of it. Sometimes the meaning carries weight. Other times, it’s just for the childlike joy of finding something hidden.

On one of the last slides, I shared one of those - and the story behind it.

Here are a few of my favorite pieces from the project I had the honor of working on with Eric for THE PEACHED TORTILLA. by @whobodycreative

Getting Peached never looked better 🍑
New @peachedtortilla is live — tees, crews, hoodies, all the good stuff.

The first few slides are the new stickers (free @meritcoffee tomorrow). The radio tower has the coffee cup Easter Egg - originally from their Alamo Heights location’s iconic neon sign.

Slide:
5 + 6. I designed a custom enamel mug for the Local Coffee staff only back when Stranger Things first aired.

7. Merit [Local] used to host Thursday Night Throwdowns - of the hundreds of posters I designed for the events - this was one of my personal favorites. I love that the date happened to be on the 11th.

8. Door signage for the Throwdown.

9. Random design incorporating the Indiana state flag.

Grateful to have gotten the opportunity to design these stickers for Merit and come full circle from the beginning of Stranger Things to the finale. Truly the end of era! by @whobodycreative

DINER MUG // Design Use Example

The music from this series is brought to you by one of my personal favorites (since 2005) @dustinohalloran. It’s from the new film “Eleanor The Great.” When designing this, I thought… “what is the bat listening too when he steps away from the busyness of being a bat, when he retreats from life to breathe and gather himself.” While sipping on some coffee in the moonlight… yeah - of course he’s listening to Dustin O’Halloran. I might do a print of this design personally - as a reminder to take those breaks in a fight against the hurry/noise of this world and establish a rhythm of restful small pockets that are restorative.

ENAMEL PIN // Design Use Example

I think I’ll always (design permitting) have an enamel pin example. I had to move the moon and balance it out with some stars - but I love how designs look on pins. by @whobodycreative

FOR SALE // DM to purchase.

“IPPUKU” [服] Is a Japanese word/concept that means, literally, “one breath” or “one dose.” More figuratively, it’s about stepping away from the rush of life to breathe, gather yourself, and then return with fresh energy. Sometimes one pause is all it takes to find your rhythm again.

DINER MUG // Design Use Example

It wouldn’t be fall w/o coffee or tea. I think Christmas and Autumn are the only 2 seasons I have “themed” mugs. Otherwise, it’s just the normal favorites. I love @kintousa SCS Brown Mug. Again, something so timeless about them. You could be on a starship in space - recording the readings of a black hole you just sent a team into - while listening to the Interstellar soundtrack and sipping on some coffee from this mug. Reminding you of home - Earth - Texas - chips & queso. by @whobodycreative
