🌲Rural Belonging Rural life holds so much beauty, resourcefulness, resilience, and connection to land. It can also be deeply isolating when you are queer, disabled, neurodivergent, Indigenous, a person of color, questioning the religion you inherited, rebuilding your spirituality, or simply trying to find people who care about the world beyond themselves. I don’t love calling Wild Indigo a “safe space,” because safety is not something you prove with a rainbow 🌈 or a sentence on a website. It is something you practice through accessibility, consent, curiosity, accountability, and care. What we are intentionally building is a rural sanctuary for learning, gathering, creating, and finding commUnity in nature🪻. In rural areas, it can be difficult to know where to find people and spaces that openly value LGBTQIA+ inclusion 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️, disability access, racial and cultural equity ✊🏿, environmental stewardship, bodily autonomy, spiritual freedom, and care for people whose lives may look nothing like our own. That kind of isolation can quietly convince people they have to leave rural life behind to find what they need. When you need a place to simply exist as yourself, surrounded by nature, Wild Indigo is here for you 🪻. 🪻 Wild Indigo Forest Farm 📍 Pekin, Indiana wildindigoforest.org by @wildindigoforestfarm
📆 SAVE THE DATE 📆 ☆ November 7th THE RECEIVING ☆ Some people reach the holidays carrying everyone. Others reach them wondering who will carry them. The Receiving was created for both. 🪻Maybe you are the person who cooks the meal, remembers the traditions, buys the gifts, checks on everyone, keeps the plans moving, notices who is uncomfortable, and makes the magic happen. By the time the holidays arrive, you are already tired. 🦋 Or maybe the season is hard for a different reason. You do not have a built-in person or circle waiting for you. There may be no long list of people to buy for, no full calendar of invitations, and no obvious table where you know you belong. The world can be very social and still feel profoundly lonely. 🐌 The Receiving is a full day in the forest where neither person has to perform a role. You do not have to host. You do not have to entertain. You do not have to prove you are okay. You do not have to create the experience for anyone else. For one day, the care moves toward you. 🫶🏿Join @empoweredwithmegn @freetheripple_ and @wildindigoforestfarm for a day of circles, connection, leisure time to swim or board in Princess Leia's Pond, ceremony around the bonfire, yoga, meditation, seasonal nourishment - foodie style, guided Sylvotherapy hikes, Bodywork, sound baths, the famous Brazilian Chakra Chromotherapy Lights, homegrown care packages made by Clinical Herbalist and Herb Farmer Elise Dixie Jane, AND Aura Photography + Videography with @wildindigoaura ( Earth 🌎 Mother's ONLY Aura Camera to offer Videography 🔋 powered by @somalumin ). 📍Allow us to care for you, in the forest of rest at @wildindigoforestfarm 🌲 ⬆️ Link in Bio ⬆️ by @wildindigoforestfarm
Y'all, We moved to 🌲Clark State Forest in Indiana and became the next stewards of a Native Forest Farm 🪻with an off the grid cob strawbale home built by artists 🎨 + plus a tiny cabin! There is much to share, but for now, please sit with our Earth 🌎 altar. Giving thanks to the legacy trusted in our sweaty, eager palms. As we crack open yet another fruit from this magical 🍐 Paw Paw forest, our heads bow to each of you. Thank you for trusting us over the last seventeen years. 👁 Thank you for choosing businesses who put planet before profit. And lastly, a big ole' thank you to a dear earth sibling/warrior for channeling the lands intentions and mysteries. If you aren't already familiar with @jamiehomeister (visionary behind @chakragraphs), please welcome this remarkable human into your life (or at least your social media feed). A little quiet over here, as I've been tending to the seedlings 🌱 of The Receiving. This Saturday marks @wildindigoforestfarm first hosted retreat, and my first time bringing a retreat to life as the main host rather than a workshop facilitator or space holder. There's so much I've wanted to share this week, but the tangible work of creating, preparing, and bringing this vision to life has taken precedence over documenting and posting it. With guests arriving today and tomorrow, my energy belongs to the spaces and food we're preparing, details we're tending, and magic 🔮 unfolding. There will be time to share it all. For now, I'm choosing to be fully present with the powerful women, sisters, and fellow business owners ( who are all Capricorns ♑️ & two Taurus'. ) If you're joining us at 🌀 The Receiving and have not yet checked email, be on the lookout! @empoweredwithmegn @freetheripple__ @catandowlalchemy @abbikayart @jubileefarmstudio by @wildindigoforestfarm
"Inside all of us is hope, fear, and adventure. Inside all of us is a W I L D thing." A Halloween 🎃 Samhain filled with equal parts remembrance, reflection, and play! Spent the day with sisters & some of my favorite commUnity hangs @wine_shop_na @full.stop.shop @sukhinoexpresswellness @douglassloopfarmersmarket, which led @amandasapata and I to explore the Napoleon Boulevard Halloween Art Installation! We even met the sweet family behind the ⛵️ Where the Wild Things Are installation! Where the Wild Things Are was my favorite childhood book, and in many ways, I've spent my life trying to embody its spirit. Like Max, I've known loneliness and the longing to find a place where you're loved and accepted exactly as you are. That feeling has shaped the vision behind🪻Wild Indigo Forest Farm. To create a place where our wildness is welcomed rather than tamed. Where we can reconnect with nature, cultivate meaningful relationships, and find our own commUnity of Wild Things. Naturally, I had to ask the family if they'd consider selling their creations... Turns out @bernheimforest beat me to it by ONE HOUR! I'm gonna eat them up (iykyk) 👻 So, Bernheim, perhaps we could arrange a forest-to-forest shared custody agreement? Six months in your 🌲 forest, six months in ours?! We are named W I L D, after all! Our grassroots organization is working to rewild and reconnect folks with nature, creativity, and one another. We're entirely self-funded, and while grant support has yet to materialize, we're cultivating this vision from the ground up, in the belief that nature, imagination, and commUnity can profoundly plant seeds 🌱 of hope and change lives. Perhaps there's an opportunity for our two forest centers to collaborate and share the wonder these Wild Things inspire...? @bernheimforest, would you consider taking a chance on🪻@wildindigoforestfarm?! After all, even the Wild Things need a place to belong. Grace & Gratitude, 🐞 Elise Dixie Jane Artsy Farty Alchemist by @wildindigoforestfarm

🍁 There's been a beautiful shift in my days lately, with more space to return to the rhythms that nourish and ground me. After navigating the busiest season of my life, there's so much to celebrate. The meaningful gatherings, deep connections, and experiences brought to life at🪻Wild Indigo have been extraordinary gifts. There's also a deep sense of pride in the personal capacity, organizational structure, and abilities developed to bring these visions to life and sustain such a vibrant season of gatherings, with looming deadlines overlapping one another - while literally running eight businesses in one 🤣. As that capacity shifts with autumn's 🪾 embrace, the focus is turning toward honoring my health, creating more spaciousness for winter's hibernation, and being intentional about the energy devoted to the gatherings ahead. And with that spaciousness comes the opportunity to reconnect with the practices and places that restore me. Unhurried mornings with tea 🍵 beside the pond. Wandering through the forest without the constraints of a schedule. Foraging without watching the clock. Simply observing, connecting, and being fully present with the land. There's a profound difference between continually creating space for others to receive and allowing ourselves to receive, too. Right now, I'm grateful to be experiencing both and re-learning to care for myself while stepping into a larger commUnity role of caring for others. If you're feeling called to slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience the restorative gifts of the forest, we have one remaining space for our November 7th Receiving Retreat at🪻@wildinidgoforestfarm @wildindigoauraphotography by @wildindigoforestfarm
My heart ❤️‍🔥 is brimming over with eternal gratitude To every beautiful soul who joined us for the sound bath at @WildIndigoforestfarm with @catandowlalchemy, thank you for bringing your time, energy, and openness into this little corner of the 🪻 forest. We not only sold out, but went beyond sold out, welcoming 27 beautiful souls to our largest gathering yet! I'm continually moved that you choose to share two of your most precious gifts 🌙time and energy🌈 with us. Cat, thank you for sharing your gifts 🎻. When your violin begins, the energy shifts, inviting us into your witchy 🧹 world of wonder. @nano.paints for bringing your magical paintings into our lives, and Mama Kim for caring deeply about each human and providing Reiki during the Sound Bath. To Mary, @wildrosevintage (former owner of Louisville's magical Wild Dog Rose 🍵 shop), thank you for helping prepare, welcome guests, and support Cat. And to @trueyouyoga812, thank you for helping Cat on that uphill journey (especially after foot surgery)! Thank you, sisters. We couldn't have done it without you. An enormous thank-you to Karla of @rudygreens (incredibly fresh 🐕 food w/ additional nutrition and herbs for specific health conditions), for so generously donating her incredible 15-by-10-foot khayamiya, a beautiful piece of traditional textile 🪡 artistry! This gift will become part of our future gatherings, creating a cozy space for everyone to come together, stretch out, and enjoy one big commUnity cuddle puddle! Your generosity means so much, Karla, and I'm beyond grateful to think of you with every cuddle puddle - that will more than likely also be shared with you! To friends old and new, these gatherings are about more than an experience. They're about connection, intention, and finding commUnity amid the horrors unfolding in our country and around the world 🌎. Thank you for growing this Wild Indigo commUnity with us. The forest 🌲 is even more magical because you're part of it. With love and gratitude, Elise Dixie Jane (she/her) 🪻Wild Indigo Forest Farm by @wildindigoforestfarm

Spent some time today hanging out at Wild Indigo Forest Farm, getting some much-needed time in the woods and playing a little music for the trees. 🌳🎻❤️ I don’t know if the trees appreciate my violin playing, but they’re a pretty wonderful audience. 😂 Wild Indigo is truly one of my favorite places. I love being out there surrounded by the trees, listening to the wind, the birds, and all those little sounds that are so easy to miss when we’re busy running around doing a million things. And I have to give some love to Elise Dixie Jane and the wonderful people who care for this land. They are truly amazing people, and you can tell how much love and care goes into this place. I’m so grateful they share this beautiful piece of the world with the rest of us. ❤️ This Saturday, I get to bring my crystal singing bowls and violin back out into the forest for a really special evening! 🕯️ Samhain + Halloween Sound Bath in the Forest 📅 Saturday, October 24th 📍 Wild Indigo Forest Farm | Pekin, Indiana 🌳 Arrival begins at 4:00 PM 🎻 Sound Bath begins at 5:00 PM We’ll have candlelight, a seasonal ritual, a shared ancestor altar, Halloween food and libations, and optional Reiki with Kimberly during the sound bath. I’ll be playing familiar Halloween melodies, atmospheric music, and original seasonal pieces on my violin, accompanied by the crystal singing bowls. And of course, the forest will provide its own soundtrack. Last time I played out there, the squirrels were dropping nuts from the trees, so apparently they wanted to join the percussion section. 😂🐿️ Costumes are welcome! Come early, wander the land, and enjoy the surroundings before we settle in beneath the trees. If you’ve ever wondered what crystal singing bowls and live violin sound like in the middle of a beautiful forest, I’d really love for you to experience this! We do need advance ticket purchases for this event to take place, so if you’re planning to come, please grab your ticket before Saturday! 🎟️ wildindigoforest.org Come spend a little time in the woods with us. The trees and I would love the company! 🌲❤️🦉 by @wildindigoforestfarm
