POSTS STORIES REELS

It feels like the people clinging to power have misplaced their empathy, or worse, traded it for greed and control.

They thrive on fear.
On keeping us quiet.
On convincing people that their violence is somehow our fault, that kindness is weakness, that speaking up makes us the problem.

They want us to doubt what we’re seeing.
To believe it isn’t real, even as the evidence is right in front of us.
Even as our bodies and hearts tell us otherwise.

But here’s the truth: we are the majority.
The empathetic.
The ones who care about our friends, our neighbors, our communities, human and non-human alike.

It’s more important than ever to have the hard conversations.
To show up.
To take action when it matters, even when it’s uncomfortable.

In animal rescue, we live with this reality every day. We see what happens when empathy fails, when beings are discarded, ignored, exploited. We know the anxiety, the grief, the disappointment. And we also know this: the only way forward is to keep hope alive and continue the fight.

Hope is an act of resistance.
Compassion is strength.
Showing up is how we survive.

Do the right thing.
Even when it’s hard.
Especially when it’s hard. 💛

Elton John Update: I’m Still Standing! 🩵

Our sweet Elton John is slowly but surely settling into his new life at Wildlings!

Last night, he ate his dinner, which is such a wonderful sign that he’s beginning to feel comfortable in his new surroundings!

And today, he decided to test out one of the rather janky makeshift perches I put together for him. Hey, they may not be pretty, but apparently they’re Elton approved!

We’re planning some much needed upgrades to his living space this weekend, including better perches and improvements to make his new home even more comfortable and cozy.

After everything this sweet boy has been through, it makes our hearts happy to see him starting to relax, explore, and settle in.

One little step at a time, Elton. You’re home now. ❤️

❤️🐷 A Special Connection & Some Exciting News!

This precious video of @jsteveca and Gertie sharing a sweet moment together is such a beautiful reminder of what Wildlings is all about. The connections we make with animals and the compassion they inspire. 💕

Jan has been an incredible part of the Wildlings family for the past couple of years, and we’re so excited to share that we’re hoping to officially welcome her to our Board of Directors! She’ll be joining us at our next board meeting, where we’ll vote on her appointment.

Jan brings a phenomenal background, wonderful ideas, and so much passion for our mission. We’re especially excited about her plans to lead our Education Department, helping us inspire the next generation through compassion, empathy, and meaningful connections with animals. 🌱❤️

We have some really exciting things ahead, and we couldn’t be happier to have Jan helping us bring them to life!

Because the more hearts we can reach, the more lives we can change. 🐷💕

🐷😂 Apparently, Obi Was Broken Tonight!

While hauling enclosure panels up from behind the barn for Elton John tonight, I had to leave the front pasture gate open after dark, something we rarely do.

Well, Obi, who had already escaped the princess pig area earlier, decided this was the perfect opportunity for a little solo adventure into the woods! 🌲🐷

Naturally, that made me nervous, so once we finished moving panels and feeding everyone, it was time to get Obi safely back to his own enclosure for the night.

Except Obi was NOT having it. 😂

Apparently, his forward gear was broken. He could go left. He could go right. He could even go backward. But forward? Absolutely not. 🤣

We were convinced he was malfunctioning!

Then we brought out the food, and wouldn’t you know it, his forward gear magically started working again. Although, only in slow motion. 😂

He practically floated toward the food like he was being pulled by some invisible force.

It was quite the production getting this grumpy little guy tucked into bed tonight, but we finally did it!

Just another evening at Wildlings, where even bedtime is an adventure! 🐷❤️ by @wildlingsforest

🦚💙 Elton John Has a Temporary Home! 💙🦚

When Elton John arrived yesterday, we were wrapping up a very busy volunteer day, still had projects to finish, and had lots of hungry animals waiting for dinner! We weren’t sure if he was arriving yesterday or next weekend, so we hadn’t prepared a space for him yet. Unfortunately, that meant spending his first night in our lower garage. Not ideal, but it worked for the night.

Of course, I spent all last night and today worrying about getting him a space of his own. ❤️

So after work today, I headed straight home and started hauling heavy enclosure panels up from behind the barn, all while everyone screamed at me for dinner! Apparently nobody explained daylight saving time to the animals! 😂

Once I got everything hauled up, Daniel helped me build Elton John’s temporary enclosure beside the ADU.

We secured all four sides, added a roof (because peacocks can FLY!), put gravel around the base to prevent digging, and gave him his familiar kennel with some straw and blankets for a cozy hiding spot. We also upgraded his water dish since he’d already spilled his twice! 😂

The perches still need some work, but that’s tomorrow’s project.

This isn’t his permanent home, just a safe temporary space until we can come up with a better plan this weekend.

It was a long day, but I’ll sleep a little better tonight knowing Elton John has his own little space. 🦚💙

What a beautiful day at Wildlings! 🐷❤️🌿

Today’s Volunteer Day was extra special because we welcomed our newest resident, Elton John! 🥹💕

Elton John was originally dumped, but thankfully, a wonderful family took him in and cared for him over the last few months. Rather than just finding him somewhere to go, they went above and beyond to make sure he found the very best forever home. We are so grateful for the love and kindness they showed him and for trusting us with this sweet boy. ❤️

And somehow, in the middle of all that excitement, our amazing volunteers managed to get SO much done! Between caring for the residents, tackling projects, cleaning up, and preparing for the cold, wet months ahead, everyone worked incredibly hard.

There was just something extra lovely about today. The teamwork, the kindness, the laughter, and the joy of welcoming another beautiful soul into our Wildlings family made it one of those days that reminds us why we do what we do.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, got muddy, worked hard, and helped make today so special. We truly couldn’t do this without you!

And to Elton John’s wonderful foster family, thank you for being the kind of humans this world needs more of. 💚

Welcome home, Elton John! Your next chapter starts here, and we promise it will be filled with love. 🐽💕 by @wildlingsforest

This is why we do what we do!! We are so grateful to be able to give back and show so many amazing animals how important they are. I have booked myself so much I haven’t had time to go spend time at my home away from home @wildlingsforest. They have given us so much and I’ll forever be grateful and I will do anything for them! When I struggle mentally, this place is where I feel like I can overcome it. These animals give me strength to push through, we all have stories and pain but these animals show us, you can love and trust again. #fisharefriendsnotfood #veganfortheanimals #vegan by @wildlingsforest
