Hi! My name is Willienne, I’m 20 years old and I have had psoriasis for 11 years.

Being a young girl with psoriasis has impacted me in so many ways, I had a lot of self esteem issues, I would get a lot of mean comments from friends and family, and overall I was unhappy for a long time. I used to be in a constant state of mental and physical pain.

But I think psoriasis taught me something I don’t think I could get anywhere else; mental toughness. My loved ones remind me everyday how strong I am. To be dealing with itchy, painful skin, but to go about life as if I don’t have a skin condition.

I still go to the gym wearing shorts and a sports bra, I still go to the beach, and I still take pictures whenever I go out even if you can see a bit of my skin.

But this wouldn’t have been possible without my boyfriend, it’s easier knowing I don’t have to do this alone. Every night and after every time I shower he’s always there to help me with any creams, lotions, or medications. Even when I wake up at 3am itching in pain, he’s always there to help and comfort me.

I just want to let anyone with psoriasis

as the seasons are changing i thought i'd make an updated post on how i'm doing.

i didn't think my skin would be affecting me as much but shortly after posting my last post with @psoriasis_beauty i fell into an episode of not having any motivation to post or create anything really.

i was desperate to find something to find joy in because i've gotten so caught up in the rest of my life everything feels like it sucks.

yes as the weather changes and the air is cooler and drier my skin has started to flare up a little more often. i stay up very late at night because of the pain.

but i am trying my best not to let this stop me because it is just a testament to my strength :)

even though there's a lot of *bad* changes right now, a lot of good is coming my way too, and i'm very excited for what is to come

expectations vs. reality: gym edition

what i usually post on my gym account ( @yengilfts ) isn't usually revolved around what my skin looks or even feels like. my skin doesn't bother me too much but on days like tonight my skin tends to get really irritated.

luckily, i didn't notice it til my boyfriend pointed out the blood on my shorts. but this is what a post workout flare-up looks like for me

life unfiltered✨
i remember when i used to be disgusted looking at my bare skin. until recently i'd be ashamed and would try to wear makeup to hide the redness, or long sleeved baggy clothing to hide the patches of skin.

life is way too short to be ashamed of the skin you live in.

thanks to the wonderful people i have around me, i'm proud to show myself off. i don't have a hard time seeing the beauty i have.

People who haven't seen me in a few years probably wouldn't have thought I had psoriasis.

I used to be consistent on medication ever since I was diagnosed at 12 years old. But due to unfortunate circumstances I lost my health coverage at 18.

It took some time but my skin started to flare up little by little and I couldn't control it with the added stresses of life.

The flare up began 2 years ago and I haven't been able to have consistent health coverage, so I've been trying to find ways to manage my condition without medication.

These pictures are from a year ago when my flare ups were at its worst.

Hi! My name is Willienne, I'm 20 years old and I've had plaque psoriasis for 11 years that has covered more than 50% of my body.

I've decided to dedicate this page to my journey of healing my skin, body, and mind. I also wanted to spread awareness of my condition and hopefully inspire those going through the same thing.

Psoriasis not only affects the physical body, but also us mentally and emotionally. I wanted to share everything that I've done for myself over the years that's helped me get to where I am today.🤍
