Happy Halloween. And remember DON’T F*CK WITH THE FAIRY.

And definitely don’t click the link below if you’re not into a little bit of the eerie and uncanny.

Staring Craige Els
DoP @samheasman
Music @james_edward_barker

It’s been a proper joy getting my hands dirty on this personal project. Shot on the FX3 with some refurbed soviet lenses and plenty of spit and sawdust and no this is not AI.

Check it out and let me know what you think. by @willummcgregor

Now live on my YouTube channel as a spooky season treat. Link after description.

DON’T F*CK WITH THE FAIRY

Proper little passion project squeezed into a weekend between jobs. Made for the love of the game on a Sony FX3 and some refurbished soviet lenses picked up from Kiev via eBay. I did refurbish them myself. So slightly surprised they worked.

I also got very into recording foley sound for this. Headphones recommended. 2.1 mix not surround sound because I have my limitations. Sound all recorded on the DJI mic mini 2.

Music is some previously un released sections of our spooky Gwen sound track by @james_edward_barker

Shout out to @samheasman for his DoP duties. And Craige Els for not thinking in totally crazy and agreeing to be in my scary fary film.

I was also late to a casting meeting because I got distracted making the poster. Hope you like it as much as I do.

Happy Halloween by @willummcgregor

DON’T F*CK WITH THE FAIRY. Coming (from the forest) this Halloween.

Over the last 12 months I’ve been scheming up a short horror film. Alongside doing a couple of eps of Treasure Island and also second unit on Below (now on @netflix) and @othermommy (now in cinemas). At the same time I’ve also wanted to stay true to my roots and do the thing I’ve been doing since I was 14. Which is dreaming up a film and just picking up a camera to make it. This short was shot in a day on an FX3 with a crew of two (myself and @samheasman) staring Craige Els. With myself as the creature in my first on screen role! (and catering, and sound, and runner, and driver or basically everything but DoP). I even refurbished the old soviet lenses that we shot on. The entire thing made for less than a grand. I can’t tell you how much fun I’ve had or how proud I am with the final 3 min short. Going to be doing more of these for sure.

So look out for something sinister on my insta and YouTube come Halloween from yours truly.

In the meantime I’m shooting a commercial with @not.just.any and @thebookerprizes that will be out in December. Maybe time for another self produced short in the new year? ;) by @willummcgregor

Below bergy bits. Bad ice (spoilers) from slide 3 and beyond.

Treasure Island is out today in the UK on @paramountplusuk - marking the end of a slightly unusual weekend where I’ve had three productions that I’ve been involved in premier across 4 days… first BELOW out on Netflix - then OTHER MOMMY in the cinemas. Both of which I had a small hand in. And now Treasure Island where I’ve directed episodes 2 & 3.

I had an incredible time shooting this at the start of the year out in Tenerife. Both my episodes took place on a ship so that came with its own set of challenges as you can imagine… all of which the cast and crew absolutely smashed. Bunch of hero’s the lot of em.
