Moved to Winchester with a busy work schedule and didn’t know where to start. Sharing places, classes & experiences I’ve loved ✨📍🪩

The Great Bustard 🍽️ A cosy evening dinner at The Great Bustard last week, and what a lovely place! The interiors are absolutely beautiful. It almost reminded me of a scene from The Bear on Disney, with that lovely warm, cosy restaurant feel. We went for a Margherita pizza and the venison burger, both of which made for a lovely dinner. The service was also incredibly quick, which was a real bonus! It’s about a 44-minute drive from Winchester and there’s plenty of parking on site, which is always handy. It was super popular when we visited, so be sure to book ahead! 📍 The Great Bustard, Great Durnford, Salisbury, SP4 6AY thegreatbustard #greatdurnford #salisburyfood #wiltshirefood #winchesterlife by @winchester.life
Thank you @winchester.life for your fantastic photos this evening, and for all of the Winchester glow crew for amazing energy this Halloween theme session. Back 2nd November for the Christmas warm up sessions! by @winchester.life
Afternoon Tea at Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire ☕️✨ Treated ourselves to afternoon tea at the lovely Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire, and what a beautiful setting! The grounds honestly look like something out of a film, with so much to explore and enjoy. It was such a lovely way to spend an afternoon, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Definitely one for a special occasion or if you fancy treating yourself to something a little different. 📍 Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire, Dogmersfield Park, Chalky Lane, Hampshire, RG27 8TD #fourseasons #fourseasonshampshire #afternoontea #hampshirelife #hampshiredaysout by @winchester.life
The Chestnut Horse 🍽️ Finally got round to visiting The Chestnut Horse just outside Winchester, and I’m so glad we did! I went for the Chicken Schnitzel with tenderstem and chicken gravy, and they kindly swapped the fries for some lovely potatoes for me. My partner went for The Chestnut Cheeseburger with fries. The quality of both dishes was unreal. Everything was so tasty and you could really tell the food was good quality. The staff were really friendly and the service was exceptionally quick, which is always a bonus when you’re hungry! 😂 There’s plenty of parking on site and it’s only about a 10-minute drive from Winchester, so it’s definitely one we’ll be going back to. 📍 The Chestnut Horse, Easton, Winchester, SO21 1EG #thechestnuthorse #winchesterlife #hampshirefood #winchesteruk #eastonhampshire by @winchester.life
Fort Nelson 🏰 This has been on my must-visit list for a while, so I finally made it to Fort Nelson! Fort Nelson is a restored Victorian fortress overlooking Portsmouth Harbour, and this place is huge. My favourite part was definitely the underground tunnels that run beneath the fort. They go on for ages and were originally used by soldiers in the garrison to reach different parts of the fort’s defences. Walking through them was probably my favourite part of the whole visit. There’s also loads of artillery on display from all over the world, and you can wander around the main parade before heading up onto the ramparts for some great views across Portsmouth. And honestly, this is just as fun for adults as it is for kids! 😂 It’s amazing to see how much was built into the fort all those years ago and how much of it is still there to explore. Entry is free, with £3 parking, which is pretty hard to argue with! 📍 Fort Nelson, Portsdown Hill Road, Portchester, PO17 6AN #fortnelson #portsmouth #portsmouthharbour #hampshire #winchesterlife by @winchester.life
Aperitivo Evenings at Bombay Sapphire Distillery 🍸✨ We spent Friday evening at Bombay Sapphire Distillery for one of their Aperitivo Evenings. This place is beautiful! While you wait for everything to start, there’s a lovely bar area with huge ceilings and loads of space. We started the evening with a cocktail class where we made The Laverstoke. It was sooo tasty! I’ve always thought I didn’t like drinks like this, turns out I was just making them wrong 😂🍸 We then took our cocktails out to the glass domes, which are two beautiful twin botanical glasshouses. One has a tropical climate while the other is more Mediterranean, so it was lovely wandering around with a drink and seeing all the different plants. Finally, we had a lovely selection of aperitivo while enjoying some more drinks. Definitely something a bit different from what we normally do, and I’d absolutely love to do it again! 📍 Bombay Sapphire Distillery, Laverstoke Mill, London Road, Whitchurch, RG28 7NR by @winchester.life
The Cromwell Arms 🍽️ First time visiting the @cromwell_arms in Romsey during the last bank holiday for lunch. We started with the harissa hummus and focaccia, followed by the pan-fried chicken supreme with Lyonnaise potatoes, herb-buttered fine beans and tomato & mascarpone sauce. Both were really tasty and the portions were just right. We’ll definitely be going back. The staff were really friendly, the food came out quickly, there’s plenty of parking and the pub itself was lovely and clean. Basically, everything you want when you’re going out for lunch! It was already getting quite busy by the time we left, so I’d recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. Only a 23-minute drive from Winchester too, so definitely one I’ll be adding to our list of places to go back to! 📍 The Cromwell Arms,

Summer date nights at Ocean Village Marina 🌅 I love, love, love Ocean Village in Southampton We went recently for a little summer date night, starting at HarBAR on 6th (@harbaron6th) for some drinks and nibbles while we watched the cruise ships heading out of the port 🛳️ Afterwards we took a stroll around the marina and had a look at all the boats before stopping at @figurati_southampton for dinner, where we both went for the Pappardelle al Ragù. Tasty, tasty! 🍝 It’s such a nice place for an evening, especially when the weather is good. You can have a drink, wander around the marina, watch the boats and then grab some food without really needing to go anywhere else! For parking, we normally use Ocean Way Car Park, which is only about a 2-minute walk from everything 🚙 📍 Ocean Village Marina,

Edinburgh Fringe Festival 🎭 A bit of a different post to usual, but one that had to make an appearance! Every year I head back home to Scotland and visit the Edinburgh Fringe with my sister, and this year was honestly one of our best yet. 🎭 Child Star - @alexis_sakellaris We saw Alexis’ show A Stan is Born last year, so we had to come back for the new one this year. We weren’t disappointed! 🐺 Improv Wolves - @improv_wolves Hands down the best show we’ve seen at the Fringe. Completely unscripted comedy, with every show being different. There was improv singing, acting and plenty of chaos, and somehow they never missed a beat. Absolutely hilarious. 🎤 Sneaking Into Taylor Swift Cost Me $1989 - @mattwatsoncomedy A show we’d meant to see last year but ran out of time for. Matt talks through his attempts to sneak into high-profile stadiums and The Eras Tour, with plenty of comedy along the way! With a short stop into Stramash to hear the 11-piece Blues Brothers tribute show band Gimme Some Lovin’ which we had a good boogie to 💃 The photos really don’t do any of these performers justice. I was far too busy laughing to remember to take decent photos or videos! 😂 Already looking forward to next year’s Fringe! by @winchester.life
Milford on Sea 🌊⚓️🐚 First visit to Milford on Sea and I wasn’t expecting the views across to the Needles and lighthouse on the Isle of Wight. Such a lovely surprise! 🚢 We followed the coastal path for a while and it just seemed to keep going. It was much quieter than some of the other coastal walks we’ve done, which made it feel really peaceful. Afterwards we stopped for lunch at @thelighthousemilford before heading home. If you’re looking for somewhere for a seaside walk without the bigger crowds, I’d definitely recommend adding Milford on Sea to your list. 📍 Milford on Sea,

The White Horse 🎠 🍷 Recently discovered The White Horse in Otterbourne and decided to head there one evening for dinner. Safe to say we’ll be back! We sat inside as it was during the heatwave and I couldn’t face sitting outdoors! The inside has a lovely country pub feel and I can already imagine how cosy it’ll be during the winter months. I had the Honey & Thyme Glazed Chicken Supreme with homemade piri piri sauce, Caesar salad and house fries. I was also in the mood for dessert, so we shared a lemon dessert and an Eton Mess to finish. There is parking on site, but it filled up really quickly, so I’d recommend arriving a little earlier if you can. It’s also well worth booking a table as it was very busy when we visited. 📍 The White Horse Main Road Otterbourne Winchester SO21 2EQ @whitehorseotterbourne #thewhitehorse #otterbourne #winchesterfood #hampshirepub #hampshirefood by @winchester.life
Ballet Fit with Sarker Danceworks 🩰 Never did I think I’d find myself back in a ballet class. I started ballet when I was five and carried on until I went to university. After that, I never really found another class that felt right. So it was really special to be back, this time at Ballet Fit with @sarkerdanceworks at Winchester Racquets & Fitness. The class is 40 minutes long and Viki takes you through easy-to-follow routines with plenty of laughs along the way. I’d forgotten just how much I loved ballet and how happy it always made me feel. Everyone in the class was so welcoming, which made it even more enjoyable. I will say... I’d also forgotten just how much balance and leg strength ballet requires. My legs were definitely shaking by the end! 😂 I’m already looking forward to going back. If you’ve ever done ballet before, or you’ve always fancied giving it a go, I’d definitely recommend having a look at what Sarker Danceworks offers. They run Ballet Fit along with lots of other dance and fitness classes across Winchester 🩰 Ballet Fit
