POSTS STORIES REELS

Feeling all the feels as we share this news with you — our friends, supporters, and fellow farmers. After six incredible years having had the privilege of stewarding @windrosefarm, our family is putting the property and business up for sale. As I’ve often shared, farming isn’t for the faint of heart. It takes a tremendous amount of care and dedication, and it’s a responsibility that we’ve been honored to carry. We don’t take this decision lightly and I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to being heartbroken. But sometimes in life, you can only do the next right thing, and for our family, in our current season, that’s brought us here. For now, no changes to our farming operations or us being at Wednesday market, but we felt it important to put the information out into the world in case there is someone who just might be looking to further the legacy of this special place. We can’t wait to see what the future holds.

With Love and Gratitude,
Catherine and Family

Some properties you list. This one you fall in love with.

Windrose Farm / Finca Los Agaves 71 +/- acres, two parcels, stretching along the Huer Huero Creek east of Paso Robles. For over three decades this farm has helped define farm-to-table in Southern California. Heirloom tomatoes, greens, garlic, onions, potatoes, and antique apple varieties that chefs from Paso Robles to Los Angeles have built menus around.

A protected valley microclimate. Soil that grows things other places simply can’t. Two wells, agricultural and domestic, because on the Central Coast, water is everything. An heirloom orchard planted in 1998. Vegetable rotations, heritage-breed pasture, a CDFA-licensed nursery, a farm stand, and legendary farm dinners under the oaks. Williamson Act contract in place, a meaningful property tax advantage for the next owner.

Two parcels means real scale and real possibility. The Central Coast life you’ve been telling yourself you’ll get to someday. Someday is here. Chances are you’ve already tasted what this soil can do.

Happy winter squash season to those who celebrate! Light harvest this year, but stunning as always. We’ve reached peak fall even if it’s still triple digits out. #windrosefarm by @windrosefarm

Alban Vineyards and Windrose Farm Dinner at Emre! What a special evening it was for us to be invited to participate in this incredible dinner with Chef Casey McMinn at the @theavahotel. The food was absolutely stunning paired alongside a most delightful flight of @albanvineyards wines. It was so great to meet new faces, but also run into many friends who’ve long supported the farm. Big thanks to Chef Casey, the whole @emrepasorobles team, and John, Lorraine, and Jared Alban for a lovely night in Paso Robles.

Experiencing our incredible local restaurants, having conversations surrounding where food comes from, and involving our kids in the operations at @windrosefarm has been important to us from the start. Ever since Aiden could drive, he’s been making deliveries across the Central Coast. More recently on his way down to Santa Barbara for soccer, he’s been stopping off at @bellslosalamos, so it came as no surprise that Daisy and Greg’s place would be his pick for his graduation lunch. We had the best laughs together on a most gorgeous day, celebrating Aiden and his accomplishments, while eating a delicious meal that we got to be a small part of. #welchpartyofsix by @windrosefarm
