Join us today at Hockwell Ring community Centre in Luton, with Luton Borough Council and Fazamnesty ‘Reset and Rise’. Thursday 28th May’26.

A powerful day bringing local people, support services, and community partners together to promote safety, wellbeing, and positive opportunities for all.

The event will feature a range of family friendly activities, advice and support stalls, youth engagement sessions, and opportunities to connect with organisations working across the partnership to strengthen our community and tackle violence & exploitation .

A knife amnesty will also be taking place, giving individuals a safe and anonymous way to surrender weapons and support efforts to reduce violence and keep our streets safer.

As Jaspal learns more about the reach and impact of BLCF, we also learn more about the importance and role of CICs and community-based organisations in our local area.

Wingman Mentors shows that interventions for young people now can lead to positive change for our communities in years to come. By supporting young people to reduce youth violence, this organisation is working to change the trajectory of young lives that will ultimately make the local area a safer place to be.

Community organisations are vital in making change in our neighbourhoods. BLCF works with these groups to understand the landscape and prominent issues in our communities, and responds accordingly.

This week, alongside @faz.amnesty, Beds VEPP spent time out in Luton helping keep our communities safe as part of Knife Crime Awareness Week.

Faron collected knives from across the local area through a weapons amnesty, with the weapons then safely handed over to @bedspoliceuk for disposal - a great example of partners working together to reduce harm in our communities.

Teams from @bedsvepp, @luton_sju and @wingmanmentors were out in the town centre chatting to residents and sharing advice and support, before heading over to Kingsway Rec with @lutontownct for a kickabout ⚽

Tomorrow, we’ll be out across Luton as part of our local community activity taking place during Knife Crime Awareness Week.

You’ll find us at two locations during the day:

📍 St George’s Square
🕑 2pm – 4pm
Community pop-up conversations

and later:

📍 61FC, Kingsway Park
🕟 4:30pm – 7pm
Kickabout & Convo with Luton Town FC Community Trust

Wingman will be there offering:
• Mentoring conversations
• Community engagement
• Bleed control awareness
• Information around local support and intervention pathways

Sometimes prevention starts with something simple:
a conversation, a trusted face, or somebody taking time to listen.

This week for Knife Crime Awareness Week, we’ve taken the pledge.

As a continued commitment to the work happening in communities every day.

Our pledge is simple:

- To keep showing up for young people before crisis can become a consequence.

- To keep building trusted relationships.

- To keep creating spaces for open conversations without judgement.

- To keep supporting prevention, and not just reacting afterwards.

- And to keep working alongside others who believe safer communities are built together.

Knife crime is not inevitable.

Behind many young people carrying fear, pressure, trauma or vulnerability, there also needs to be visible support, consistency and trusted adults walking alongside them.

We’re proud to stand alongside organisations, communities, parents, professionals and young people across the country taking that stand this week.

Wigmore Valley Skatepark opened today… and it showed exactly what it’s going to become.

From 3 years old to 63, boards, scooters, bikes roller skates… everyone finding their way in.
Some flying. Some just starting. All of it working.

We spent the day there, not running anything - just being present, talking, watching, skating, getting a feel for it at max capacity as it starts to build its identity.

The energy was unreal.
People travelling in from all over town and surrounding local areas St Albans, Milton Keynes and beyond just to try it out.
And the same thing kept coming up:

“This is another level. First class”

It is.

But like most skateparks, it can feel a bit daunting if you’re new.
That gap between watching and actually stepping in… that’s where a lot of people stop.

So we’ll be back.

Not to take over the space, but to support it.

Bringing skate and bmx coaches, mentors, and a bit of structure around the edges so anyone who wants to start… can.

‘Not perfect. Just ready.’

Big respect to everyone who showed up today and made it what it was.

The first Marsh Farm People’s Assembly happened today and Futures House came to life.

We’re proud to stand alongside this journey.

What stood out wasn’t just the turnout, it was the energy.
Passion and drive. Focus and direction.

This is what it looks like when a community steps forward and starts shaping its own future. Speaking up and encouraged to be a voice in the room…. There was a general immediate consensus to work from after two hours of table discussions.

The assemble was formed

Marsh Farm isn’t just a place. It’s a micro-community within the wider town, with one of the biggest hearts for its people, its place, and its space.

And this is only the beginning.
Four assemblies a year.
Resident voice growing stronger each time.
Real conversations, real direction, real change.

We’ll be there, listening, supporting, and building alongside

So,
I’ve been working with this really pleasant young lad for a few weeks now, and the other week he shocked me telling me that he enjoyed fishing😳
He said he had been on a few occasions with his old school and he found it calming.
I mentioned this to his support worker and she kindly got him a pretty good fishing rod and reel which he was gassed about.
So, yesterday I got completely taken out of my comfort zone and teamed up with my bro Benjamin English who runs @recoveryrods and we went fishing. 🎣

Didn’t manage to catch anything, but we all had a wicked time and were both looking forward to coming back again.
