POSTS STORIES REELS

It is with great sadness & heavy hearts that we announce the passing of my daddy, Grant Riffle.

It was a beautiful passing, as he took his last breath with his daughters and sister by his side in Key West. We made him as comfortable as possible while rubbing his head and holding his hand. There was no better way to transition.

As I look back on all of the time that the Lord allowed me to have with him, I can’t help but mourn all of the moments he should have been there for. Every Alabama vs. Auburn game (in which he would disown me in those brief moments…War Eagle), college graduation, my first day of work, my wedding, and every simple moment we would spend together on a random Tuesday meeting up with his old friends.

I’m thankful for every moment with my dad, and I believe he heard every last word I had to say in his last moments on earth. He heard and repeated the prayers I said aloud and listened to every song we played him. Thank you to everyone who has reached out. I love to hear every last story, memory, and comment that is said about my dad. Please feel free to share with us. He made me a Riffle through and through (humor & all), and I have been, and will be forever changed. I love you, Daddy. by @wintergraceriffle

Happy Birthday, Daddy🤟

As we celebrate your 59th birthday without you, I can’t help but be filled with gratitude for the 18 birthdays that I got to spend with you. That gratitude isn’t quite masking the grief that I feel when I think about the lifetime of birthdays that I have to celebrate without you. Today, I should be FaceTiming you to talk about what you are going to do today. I hate that this isn’t going to happen today, but we can use today to celebrate the love you gave the world for so many years.

I know you would want me to celebrate today with our family, enjoying time together, and reminiscing about our good times with you. Although sometimes it feels nearly impossible to talk about the good times because you’re not here to make more, it’s important that we don’t forget how loved you made us feel, even if it was through the form of bullying most times.

I’ll ensure that today is a day filled with spending time with the ones that I love, enjoying the outdoors while watching the sunset, listening to Tom T. Hall and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and being a little extra stubborn. These are all of the things you did best. I’ll remember all of the lessons you taught me. I won’t wish my life away, I won’t smack my gum, and I’ll make sure to hug everyone I love (and ensure that I don’t end it with a pat on the back).

Today is the first of many celebrations without you, but that does not mean we will forget about you. As we approach the holidays, I’ll make sure to save you a seat. Every birthday party, Thanksgiving dinner, and family reunion will never be the same. Your wittiness won’t paint the rooms with color, and your flip-flops in 50° weather won’t be a conversation starter. Yet, we will always remember all of the little things that made you who you are and everything that is missing now that you’re not here. I hope that, today, we all have more of a Grant Riffle, carefree, spirit. I love you, Daddy. Happy birthday🤍 by @wintergraceriffle
