💙🎄 Our volunteers will once again be collecting and recycling REAL Christmas trees in return for reasonable donations to Wirral Hospice’s care and support for local families. Donate to book your REAL Christmas tree to be collected: wirralhospice.org/treecollection Registrations close at 11.59pm on Sun 10 Jan 2027 so that we can plan van routes for more than 2,000 trees. Collections will start on Fri 15 Jan 2027 and go on until all pre-booked trees have been picked up. This takes several days depending on the number of trees, vans and volunteers we have. If you're a local gardening company who doesn't already support our tree recycling but would like to get involved by helping to collect / chip trees, please contact Elaine at events@wirralhospice.org #WirralHospice #HospiceCare #HospiceHeroes by @wirralhospice
💙🤣 Our next business networking guest speaker is @samaverycomedy : ✅ Stand-up comedian ✅ Bestelling author ✅ Renowned speaker ✅ Artistic Director @thecomedytrust Fri 11 Dec, 9-10.30am Wirral Hospice CH63 6JE Book here: www.wirralhospice.org/companies How NOT to be terrible at public speaking Standing in front of a room full of people while they all stare at you is, apparently, something we’re supposed to take in our stride. If the thought of public speaking makes you want to hide behind the nearest PowerPoint slide, you’re not alone. The good news is, you don’t need to become a natural-born speaker, learn multiple presentation techniques, or develop the confidence of a TED Talk presenter to learn to enjoy public speaking. In this 20-minute mini session, comedian and professional speaker, Sam Avery, shares some of the simple things he’s learned from two decades of performing in front of audiences who have absolutely no obligation to laugh. You’ll discover practical ways to manage nerves, connect with an audience, sound more confident and make your message more memorable. No complicated theory. No motivational shouting. Just useful techniques you can use the next time someone says, “Can you just say a few words?” Sam is kindly delivering this talk for FREE but any donations you’re able to make to The Comedy Trust would be very much appreciated. Sam will be able to accept card or cash donations on the day. Wirral Hospice networking info: ✅ Attendees MUST register in advance ✅ Arrival from 9am for networking ✅ Meeting will start 9.30am ✅ Aiming to close for 10.30am ✅ Hot / cold drinks and pastries will be provided at the start ✅ The session is FREE but please be aware that ANPR car parking restrictions are now in place across the whole hospital site – there are TWO visitor car parks within 5mins walk from the hospice. This will incur a charge of about £3.20 which you will need to pay before exiting the site. #WirralHospice #HospiceCare #HospiceHeroes #Networking by @wirralhospice

💙 Bromborough Allport Road shop manager, Suzi, nurtures a great community spirit! From the time the bolt is drawn back at 9am and the roller shutters are locked at 4.30pm the shop is a busy hub of shoppers, stock donors, volunteers and, the busiest of all, shop manager, Suzi. All of Suzi’s thirty-three volunteers, many of whom have been with her since the shop opened on March 9th, 2022, are in awe of her tremendous energy. In fact, so is everyone else who meets and greets her. One volunteer told us: “Suzi is incredible. She’s always on the go. Some days I think there’s more than one of her. One minute helping to sort stock, another organising pricing, hanging clothes, sorting displays, sometimes behind the till, directing and supporting us and always welcoming customers with a smile. She’s also got a great understanding and talks passionately of why we’re doing it all. To raise funds for the hospice where, through visiting friends down the years, she’s had her own personal experiences. It really inspires us volunteers to do our very best too.” The feeling is mutual, Suzi says: “It would be a million times harder to provide the customer service and to keep replenishing the stock without my small army of friendly, experienced and capable people. They’re all from the local community and they’re all FOR their local community. Simply brilliant.” Suzi has a fascinating background; you can read the full story here: www.wirralhospice.org/2026/08/25/suzibrom We love sharing stories about our people and supporters: www.wirralhospice.org/news.
