A few years back, my son Julian @juliansaunderss declared he was moving to Chicago to start a career in music. That’s exactly what he did—and is doing.

Today, the first single and title track from his upcoming album “Two Geese” is out on all streaming platforms. His big brother, my son and maestro Harrison Saunders @haro_saunders , weaves his beautiful cello throughout.

Please go check out “Two Geese” wherever you stream—the band and everyone involved are top shelf. The full album will be released April 10th.

Thank you, Julian, for letting my artwork live alongside your music. What a joy it is to watch you create and share your voice with the world.

About the album art: Long ago, before Julian was born, the remarkably talented Laurie Tennent @laurietennentbotanicals gave me a handful of her abstract photographs and asked me to paint on them what I saw. I painted the man in the boat and the lady lying on her side (they’re untitled—though I am NOT titling them “Untitled” 😉).

Thank you, Laurie, for inspiring me to explore new possibilities. It’s amazing to see this collaboration resurface decades later!

“Thorn Wych makes instruments from tree branches; bowed strings, flutes and percussion that she runs through a chain of loopers, pitch bending glitches and delay pedals. Strange songs sung in tongues, mashed up chewed and spat out. As the adder weaves her way through the dirt and mycelium hum, we play in the mud and converse with insects.
‘Aesthesis’ is Thorn Wych’s debut LP that she recorded and mixed herself at home, often performing long improvised pieces, then later editing them down, cutting and pasting and overlaying other instruments.
This album takes inspiration from such works as ‘The Secret Book of John’, the 1940 film ‘The Thief of Bagdad’, and Lata Mangeshkar’s ‘Meera Bhajans’. She dedicates her work to the Divine Mother Asherah, Holy Spirit, Guardian of the Tree of Life.” —Bandcamp bio

Hyde St Studios San Francisco 1995. One Mississippi redux with @ethanjohnsmusic at the controls. @woodysaunders from my hs hardcore band Smart Bomb on drums. @elginpark on bass. The band kicked ass! @andy_factor on A&R at Virgin. It was definitely a group effort here. I was stressed out and having tummy aches a lot so I would bring this foul smelling Chinese medicinal tea in every morning and stink the place up 😂 Literally stepping over junkies and homeless ppl on the sidewalk to enter the studio which was located in the heart of the tenderloin district. I remember Tom Dowd was working with Greg Allman in the next room and occasionally we’d bump into Tom in the shared kitchen area (if we were lucky). He had these crazy stories about recording Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles! And speaking of legends, there was that time Glynn Johns came by for a visit. NBD. I asked him about recording the Kinks but he wasn’t having it. Instead he talked about recording The Who’s Next album which was so inspiring to hear. I was living out my childhood dreams of making a record and meeting my heroes. I remember the feeling I had. Blessed I guess. Still feel it. ❤️ by @woodysaunders

Grateful doesn’t quite reach it, but it’s the closest word I have. Art from one of my favorite artists David Tibet @davidtibet_current93 . Thank you David, with much love, Kerstin & Woody
