Finally got to turn all those tiny little boxes I see on my screen each week into real live people! Had the most delightful weekend in Toronto enjoying time with fellow @gatherpoets and celebrating the release of our second anthology. Thanks @theguelphpoet for creating this amazing community. by @wordsinwaiting

This round of @gatherpoets has me in conversation with my poetry in a way I don't know has ever happened before. I'm getting to know myself as a writer better and I couldn't be giddier. Damn do I love this group. Thanks for the springboard on this piece...

Before I start writing I often repeat the phrase "make me a river, not a lake." It's my way of telling myself to stay open to creativity and not get in my own way. I used that phrase in my last piece and for some reason it just felt like it needed a more prominent place in this one. So I listened, and I like it.

Extra thanks to my @gatherpoets community for amazing feedback in the editing process.

For years I have been wanting to write a poem using the word "pith," but it just hasn't come. Until today. And I LOVE it. 🍊

I'm one of those people that watches for signs. I don't go overboard, I just try to remain open to noticing things because I think it's important to pay attention to what the world is trying to tell you. Nighthawks, I've learned, never have anything good to tell me. Even though they are cool as hell. Sorry little buddies.

I decided this is a weekend of doing nothing. Saying no to all invites and all plans. Just writing, reading, and watching the birds. 🐦 Starting out properly at the best @swede.hollow.cafe with a little inspiration from @theguelphpoet 💚 Hope you all find exactly what you're looking for today. 😘 by @wordsinwaiting

Mail from @gatherpoets is always so welcome, but this was especially fun to receive because ways to support new work from a talented fellow poet makes it even better! 🤗 @nicolezwrites I just pre-ordered your book, Motherhead, and I cannot wait until it comes! And can I just say... that cover... my God is it breathtaking! 💜💜 by @wordsinwaiting

I've loved poetry and writing since I was around 8. And for so long it felt like something I'd always do on my own. I could never really figure out how or where to find my way into a poetry "community" (I am, admittedly, really terrible at networking). But thanks to @gatherpoets I have found my people 💜 And yesterday I not only got to meet some wonderful online friends in real life for the first time, but I spent the day writing, appreciating, and talking about poetry with some truly wonderful poets. I really never would have guessed that would happen. It was beyond beautiful. by @wordsinwaiting

I had a fantastic Mother's Day exploring the North Shore with my husband and these three incredible daughters of ours.

I've learned that the BEST time to be outside is just before dawn. There is something inherently magic during that small window of time.
