It’s been 3 months and I’ve been avoiding making this post cause it still hurts so much knowing that Sadie is not here physically. I found Sadie on the Tehama Animal Shelter’s facebook page in the forestry lab at Humboldt 2 weeks before graduating. I told mom she’d be the perfect dog for me. She went from a stray in Los Molinos to the best woods dog I could ask for and my best friend. Sadie was with me everyday running around the woods. She saved me from many deer, squirrels & chipmunks. She was fearless and stood her ground against many bears lol. She came into my life when I needed her most, even though I didn’t know it at the time. Transitioning from college to the real world was hard, and she was at my side to get through it. I honestly don’t know where I’d be or how life would look if I hadn’t had Sadie, & that’s a life I’m glad I don’t know. Sadie was so shy & timid when I got her & to see her personality come out in that first year was amazing. Sadie was the sassiest, bossiest, sweetest & most loyal companion. She was every bit of those things right until the end. When Sadie passed a piece of me left with her, but a piece of her will always live on in my heart. I know she’s running around the woods in the sky across the Rainbow Bridge. Sadie Girl it’s been 1 year since you crossed the Rainbow Bridge. That was the hardest day of my life. In some ways it doesn’t feel real that you’re gone. I think about you and say your name everyday Baby Girl. You were the best thing that ever happened to me and I’ll be forever thankful that God put you in my when I needed you most and that you chose me. Had a good day at the Longview Go 4th Logging Show, placed 6th in underhand & 5th in doublebuck with Seth Bergman, we’ve never sawn together before btw. Unfortunately didn’t get videos of those events. But had a much improved standing block over the STIHL qualifier, and springboard I initially climbed in 5 and 6, went to get on my second board and the pole was soft and the pocket started to mush, but once I got on the second board I chopped the block better than I have. #timbersports #america250 #longview taken in Longview, Washington by @sadie_mae_woods_heeler

Last week I was fortunate enough to compete in the STIHL Timbersports US Men’s Qualifier in Cherry Valley, NY for an opportunity to advance to the US championships in Milwaukee next month. Results weren’t what I had hoped for, but nonetheless the experience and opportunity was great! Got to see some friends I haven’t seen in a while as well as be around some great competitors and learn a lot! Came away with some things to work on which I’m looking forward to! To top it off, I travel there with some of my West Coast lumberjack fam & I’d travel with them again in a heartbeat! Couldn’t ask for a better group to be with! I just want to thank everyone for the Happy Birthday wishes! It truly means a lot! But I wanted to share a new Birthday. I began attending Church regularly back in November, and January 25, 2026 I was baptized. I didn’t know if I was ready and I was nervous and excited, truthfully, we don’t need to be ready, Jesus takes us as we are. I’m by no means perfect, I’ve stumbled in life before this decision, I’ve stumbled after, and I’m sure I’ll stumble again, but my goal is to grow closer to Jesus and become a better man for him. Thank you to everyone that stood by me in this and to the amazing people at @chicocommunity.church ! Meet Ringo! Sadie Girl let me know it was time, and she sent this little guy! We found him on the Tehama County Animal Shelter list, like Sadie. He was with a wonderful foster, and we met him last Saturday, Ringo came up to me and rolled over between my feet, and I know he was the one! He’s fitting right in, has a lot to learn, but I can’t wait for all our adventures together! #ringoboy #ringothedingo #heelersofig by @sadie_mae_woods_heeler

Does anyone recognize this little guy? I found him running down Highway 36 just West of Mineral this morning. I checked at the restaurant in Mineral, but they didn’t recognize him, I did leave my name and number with them. Guessing he’s about 8-10 years old, 15-20 lbs, has a green Kong collar without tags & I think he’s deaf. He’s at my parent’s house in Los Molinos, and is eating and drinking well. I’m goingbto take hime to the shelter to see if he’s microchipped. Please share, and if you recognize him please contact me. Let’s find this little guy’s family! by @sadie_mae_woods_heeler
