I think I’ve been hiding behind my own brand a little bit. Trying to make everything look polished. Posting the finished product. Treating Wrapped In Em like it’s already a big, established business. But it isn’t. It’s a very small business. And behind it is me — Emma, 47, living in Dubai, choosing fabric, sewing, photographing, posting, packing, selling at markets…and trying to work out how to make it all grow. So I’m changing things. I’m giving myself one year to really give Wrapped In Em a go — and this time I’m going to share the journey, not just the finished result. I have no idea where we’ll be a year from now. But that’s rather the point. Day 1. 🤍 #SmallBusinessDubai #smallbusiness #madeindubai #smallbusinessjourney #womeninbusiness by @wrappedinem
Today’s procedure: rethreading. Prognosis: one very cute resort piece 🩺🧵 Every Wrapped In Em piece is made by me, by hand, from first stitch to final hem. Some days that’s a lot of squinting at needles. Rate my surgical skills 1–10 👇 #handmadefashion #resortwear #dubaimade #slowfashion #smallbusinessdubai by @wrappedinem
She’s got range 💙 One Wrap Pant…Three Ways To Wear! Palazzo wide leg, a jumpsuit moment, or the classic wrap front… all from ONE Midnight Wave wrap pant. An outfit change without actually changing. Just add a little French pop and suddenly getting dressed is the best part of going out 💃 Which gets your vote? 1 — Palazzo 2 — Jumpsuit 3 — Wrap front Follow @wrappedinem for more ways to wear one piece on repeat ✨ #dubaifashion #transformation #resortwear #multiwear #beachtobar by @wrappedinem
Plot twist: the multi-million pound brand is still loading… 😅 But the resort wear is real, handmade by me, and ready to go. You gotta dream big and fake it until you make it!! Follow along for Part 2 👀✨ #buildingmybrand #dreambig #fakeittillyoumakeit #smallbusiness #resortwear by @wrappedinem
Remember that peek at the sewing table? This is what it became 🤍 AJapanese knot bag in beautiful crochet fabric, lined in silky pale blue and finished with crisp white fringe. Loop it over your wrist, tie it, untie it, done. Big enough for the essentials, pretty enough to be the whole outfit. Made by me, by hand, so there are only a few. Find them at Waitrose Community Market in Motorcity tomorrow, 9-5pm while they last. Want one put aside? DM me before they go 💌 Ha #japaneseknotbag #handmadeindubai #dubaimarket #resortwear #slowfashion by @wrappedinem
Every Dubai girl knows the Friday brunch outfit panic 😅 So I made one. Last night. Would you wear it? Yes or no 👇 Tag your brunch bestie 🥂 #dubai #dubailife #dubaistyle #brunch #dress by @wrappedinem
Why does putting a price on something you’ve made feel like putting a price on yourself? I caught myself doing it today. Pricing a new piece, then wondering whether I should lower it before anyone had even seen it. “It’ll get more interest.” “I’m still testing the market.” “It might help me sell.” But the fabric, the hours, the skill and the care still need paying for. I design, cut and sew every Wrapped In Em piece here in Dubai. I’m learning to give that work a fair price—and stop treating someone’s budget as a verdict on my ability. A piece can be outside someone’s budget and still be worth its price. Both can be true. 🤍 Fellow small business owners—do you find pricing the hardest part too? #HandmadeInDubai #SmallBusinessDubai #MadeInDubai #CreativeBusiness by @wrappedinem
Every Dubai girl knows the struggle 😅 One ruana, every temperature. Which are you: always cold in the mall, or always hot outside? 👇 #dubaistyle #resortwear #dubaimums #whattowearindubai #ootdfashion by @wrappedinem
It started as a still life on my desk… and now it’s a Ruana. 🧵 Cut, pinned, stitched, fringed (and yes, I found the scissors eventually). A Ruana is the easiest piece you’ll own. Throw it open over a swimsuit, belt it for dinner, or wrap it when the AC gets brave. One piece, endless looks. Come and say hi, try it on and see the colours in real life: 📍 Waitrose Community Market, Thursday 8th Oct, Motorcity 9-5pm Which way would you wear it: open, belted or wrapped? #resortwear #madeindubai #dubaismallbusiness #handmadeindubai #slowfashion by @wrappedinem
Small desk. Big plans. Usually a missing pair of scissors.✂️ This is where Wrapped In Em begins-with me, my sewing machine and fabrics I can’t wait to turn into something you’ll love wearing. I’m Em, making multi-wear pieces in Dubai and taking you along as I grow my little business. One piece, endless looks... and quite a few loose threads. What catches your eye first when choosing clothes-the colour or the print? #resortwear #madeindubai #designer #handmade #slowfashion by @wrappedinem
Talking to camera still feels SO awkward 🙈 Will I ever get better at it? Probably… but only if I keep doing it. The best advice I’ve ever had: just dive in. If you wait until you’re 100% ready, 100% sure, 100% prepared, it’ll never happen. So here I am, diving in 🌊 What’s something you’ve been waiting to feel “ready” for? Tell me below 👇 #justdivein #smallbusinessowner #womeninbusiness #dubaismallbusiness #behindthebrand by @wrappedinem
One basic white tee + one hair elastic = a whole new shape🤍 An easy little trick to crop your tee without cutting it. Add a twillie and my black wrap trousers and that’s a perfect boho summer outfit sorted. Save this for your next “what shall I wear?” moment. #resortwear #stylinghacks #OutfitInspiration #grwm #ootd by @wrappedinem
