POSTS STORIES REELS

Good content doesn’t just capture attention. It makes people think, feel, and do something. 🎙️

I joined the Content Amplified Podcast to talk about what it takes to create content that actually moves people — from building digital audiences and telling stories that resonate to turning attention into action.

After years of leading digital marketing strategy at the NAACP and now editorial strategy at the ACLU, I’ve learned that the goal isn’t just to make more content. It’s to make content that matters.

Grateful for the conversation. Tune in! 🎧✨

10 years ago today, I started my first full-time, salaried job at a small PR firm outside DC.

At the time, I was deeply annoyed. 😂 I’d spent years collecting expensive degrees, stacking internships, and applying to big-name companies—only to wonder why none of it seemed to be paying off fast enough.

Little did I know that the job I thought was “not good enough” would be the beginning of a career I couldn’t have planned.

Two years ago, I found myself on a stage in Miami speaking at a @reuters event—a company I had once applied to and been rejected from.

I never knew I’d build a career that would put me in rooms I once thought were out of reach.

I never knew the “no’s” would become part of the story.

And I definitely didn’t know that the small PR firm I was so eager to outgrow would teach me some of the skills I’d carry with me for the next decade.

10 years later, I’m still learning that the timeline is rarely the point.

Keep going. The plot has a few twists. 🥂

Fashion Week feels like the perfect time to reflect on this conversation.

When we talk about fashion and lifestyle creators, it’s easy to focus on the obvious: the clothes, the aesthetics, the perfectly curated feeds. But sitting down with Jaz Turner, Blake Gifford, and Atiya Walcott for Black & Viral in Chicago reminded me that there is so much more happening behind the camera.

These women are sharp business minds, innovators, storytellers, and—most importantly—trailblazers. They aren’t simply participating in culture; they’re helping shape it. And their influence extends far beyond what we see on our screens.

That’s what made this conversation so powerful: creating space to talk about virality, influence, and what it means to build something that lasts—through the lens of women who are doing exactly that.

I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to moderate this conversation and to the @naacp and @thewebbyawards for creating Black & Viral as a platform to celebrate Black creators and explore the power of their influence. Conversations like these matter because representation isn’t just about who gets a seat at the table—it’s about making sure we’re actually listening when they speak.

And yes, the outfits were 🔥. But the women wearing them? Even more so.

Next week, I’m heading to VidCon — and on Juneteenth no less — to speak truth, amplify culture, and celebrate Black creativity in all its viral glory. ✊🏾✨ I’ll be on three panels, moderating two, and presenting Black and Viral to a wider audience for the first time.
