Back when we first started, we were figuring things out as we went, working closely with founders and paying attention to what actually helped them move forward. Since 2016, that journey has led to: - 4 startup hubs - 80+ programme cohorts - 2,400+ entrepreneurs supported - 1,200+ jobs created - 150+ businesses registered - 180+ products and services launched What started with the Young Founders Programme has grown into a network of startup hubs and hands-on support, shaped by experience, iteration, and years of working alongside entrepreneurs and experts. 2 days. 8 teams. 40 young innovators. A lot of local problems on the table. πŸ’™ After 7 weeks of training in the Future Makers programme, it was finally time to put those skills to work! Each team took on a problem facing their own community, worked together to develop a solution, and pitched their ideas to a panel of judges. Now, 5 of those teams are moving on to incubation, where they'll get the chance to take their ideas even further. Stay tuned to meet them! A huge thank you to the United Internet for UNICEF Foundation for making this journey possible and investing in the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs. Here's a look at how it all unfolded! πŸŽ₯πŸ’™ #fyp #hackathon #programs #kigali #entrepreneurlife by @wsh_kigali

What does innovation look like through the eyes of young people? After 7 weeks, 21 training sessions , over 90 hours. Our Future Makers gave us 8 answers, and every one starts with a problem they've seen up close. πŸ‘‰ Swipe through. Learn more During the Future Makers Hackathon, 8 teams took on real challenges in their communities and turned them into startup ideas: live hospital queues by SMS, a sign-to-speech screen for service counters, credit records for small shops, and more. Each team did its own field research, and each has a protoytype. And the best part? They're only getting started! πŸ’™ A huge thank you to United Internet for UNICEF Foundation for supporting Future Makers Kigali and helping young people turn their ideas into meaningful solutions. Now, a question for you: if you were an investor, which of these 8 ideas would you back? Tell us in the comments πŸ‘‡ Want to help one of the teams, or explore a partnership? Two days. 8 teams. 8 solutions. 5 advancing to incubation. Day 2 of the Future Makers Hackathon was all about bringing ideas to life. Our Future makers refined their prototypes and stepped up to pitch their solutions to our panel of judges. And the outcome speaks for itself πŸ‘€ πŸ”Ή 8 solutions pitched across 6 sectors πŸ”Ή 100+ people interviewed or surveyed to help shape their ideas πŸ”Ή 5 teams selected to advance to incubation From financial inclusion and healthcare to disability inclusion, logistics, youth employment, and the creator economy. The teams tackled real problems their communities face with creative solutions. A huge thank you to our judges, Joanna Nicholas (East Africa Investments Ltd), Kevin G. Yesterday was all about the ideas. Today, it's time to bring them to life! Day 1 of the Future Makers Hackathon kicked off with an inspiring fireside chat featuring Siba Nxumalo, creative entrepreneur and Co-founder of TORI Branding, and Dr. Jehovanis Manirakomeye, medical doctor and Co-founder of Ingabo HopeCore, who shared valuable insights from their entrepreneurial journeys. Then came the real work! πŸ‘€ Teams got together, challenges were selected, ideas were debated, and the first prototypes started taking shape. With guidance from coaches, our young innovators spent the day turning their ideas into real solutions. Today, we're back for Day 2! πŸ”₯ Good luck to all our Future Makers as they take their ideas to the next level. We're rooting for you! πŸ’™ A special thank you to United Internet for UNICEF Foundation for making this journey possible. by @wsh_kigali

We've got a new face joining WSHK πŸ‘€πŸ’™ Meet Albert Mugisha, our new Country Director! With over 10 years of experience under his belt, Albert knows a thing or two about building partnerships, growing businesses, and turning strategies into action. His career has taken him across different sectors, from business development funds and the private sector ecosystem to Rwanda's space sector (yes, actual SPACE πŸš€). Along the way, he's built experience in corporate partnerships, international relations, business development, and trade facilitation. But there's more to Albert than partnerships and strategy! Outside of work, he enjoys playing football and hiking. So if you're looking for someone to join your next hike or football match, you know who to ask! πŸ˜‚ We're excited to have him on board and look forward to this new chapter together. WSHK family, let's give Albert a warm welcomeπŸ’™ #theoffice #welcometotheteam #startup #kigali #visitrwanda by @wsh_kigali
We tried running away from our problems. Then sat down and talked about them. πŸ˜‚πŸƒπŸΎβ€β™‚οΈ F-UP Night was back for round two, and this time, we kicked things off with a run before getting into the real marathon: sharing our failures. From running together to laughing over questionable decisions and sharing stories of things that didn't quite go according to plan, the evening was a reminder that behind every success story are a few F-ups worth talking about. A huge thank you to our partners, Vision Running Club, Ride for Unity Rwanda (RFU), and Winnaz, and everyone who showed up, ran, shared, and made the evening what it was! πŸ’™ Because perfect is overrated. #failure #visitrwanda #kigali #fyp by @wsh_kigali
