How did you spent Halloween? Dressed up and partying or couch and a book/tv show?
It’s not really something we celebrate in my country, and it’s still viewed as something manly for children and an opportunity to dress up with scary costumes, so my Halloween weekend was basically me under three blankets (i hate the cold so so much) binging a… very Halloween series?
If Half City gave me a lot of Vampire Academy vibes, Cursed City shifted the perspective straight into Buffy. And Buffy is still my favorite series ever. And omg, i loved it. I was hesitant at first, because HC was nice but i was rolling my eyes at a lot of things. CC… well, perspective shifts, especially since we got the one and only Deacon. Sue me, I loved him, he’s my type of guy, keep my away from he broody, self flagellating MCs... He’s basically spike with a sprinkle of Damon and Eric, so fun to read and his dynamic with Viv? Fireworks. Total fireworks. And very very unexpected slow burn? I binged the entire book in an afternoon and now i am so so tempted to go back and reread it. Loved the plot, and also the development of the friendships, we got the Scooby Squad 2.0 involved! And that cliffhanger? How i am supposed to wait until July????

So.. how’s everyone journey back into sjm’s world?
I binged the book on release day, mainly to avoid spoilers (and leaks. I am appalled at how some of the leaks went public. Paying people? Editing a file? People are nuts) but you’ll not see spoilers here.
I’ll just say that one again my girl Nesta is amazing i adore her so much and I’m hyped for her journey and the Valkyries.
This book is still an opening, setting the pieces in place for the second so nothing really catastrophic happened yet, but it’s setting up very interesting plot lines. Especially regarding our favorite fox boy Lucian Vanserra (and his eldest brother, i swear Sarah, i need a book about Eris Vanserra right now) he deserves the world and it’s not appreciated enough.
Does it mean that it’s a perfect book? Absolutely no.
Do i have criticisms? Of course i have. There are things I didn’t like, the behaviour of some characters made me so so so pissed that i had to pause reading for a couple of minutes and some plot lines felt absolutely idiotic. But again, no spoilers here. DMs are open to discussion btw, I’m curious about all your reaction and theories, because i have a lot of them.

What’s a book that left you destroyed?
I’ll start.

#thejasadheir #alchemised #redrising #onyxstorm #thepoppywar by @xtinemarieclaire

What do you mean we’re getting a Red Rising movie? And Francis Lawrence is directing???
Ok i am already terrified. And hyped. And also… can we get Hans Zimmer for the soundtrack?

Also, hi. I know. It’s been a week. No excuses, just… kind of bordering a creativity slump. I’m not reading, not watching anything… I suspect that it’s the colder season getting to me. I don’t do well in the cold.

Any news? Something fun that’s happened while i was mia? And yes i’ve seen the Fourth Wing casting, not my favorite but we can work with it. The biggest worry is still budget and number of episodes. And obviously a good script.

So yeah, I was supposed to go on with The Wretched Divine and write the damn Under The Iron Sky review (it’s coming, i swear) but this dropped and well… I’m weak.
I’m not an audiobook person. But give me the graphic audio version, and I’ll drop everything. Especially if it’s Fourth Wing. To me it’s the best adaptation (ok, i still have to try their version of the Cosmere, but i will go there too in time) and probably one fo the reasons I really fell in love with series. And omg, Xaden’s voice? It’s to die for. Which obviously means that i did listen to this version of Threshing Day and then went back to re-start Fourth Wing, Iron Flame and Onyx Storm.

Audiobooks yes or no? Regular version or graphic audio?

So, my tbr is endless. My physical tbr, which consist mostly of Fairyloot books and sequels, too. So I decided that if the mood reader isn’t in the mood, the tbr jar will suggest one book every month from all the physical ones i own. And I MUST read it before the end of the month.
I was debating about adding the arcs and the ebooks too but for now, i think this is going to be just for the hardbacks and the paperbacks that fill my shelves and not my kindle.
Swipe if you want to see what the tbr jar picked for this month!

How do you deal with the endless tbr? (Because i know everyone has one. Do not lie)

So the book for October is A Monsoon Rising! Which is perfect since the third book was released a couple of days ago!

And obviously i have the amazing @fairyloot version (and speaking of special editions, we need the third book to complete the series FL, please!)

My babies are finally together look at how pretty they are this edition is seriously stunning!
And the series is amazing i mean peak yearning and fun those two are probably my favorite ship of the year and I’m saying this even when i have a lot of anticipated books to read in the next few months, they are THAT ship.

(And if you’re asking, yes, they beat Rory and Sybil for me. They’re second place btw. And that’s because of osric’s pathetic yearning. Rory had a bit more dignity)

Do you already have a favorite ship this year?

The naked is probably my favorite of the entire @fairyloot work in all those years I’m subscribed. I’m literally in awe.

Oh yes, fall is my least favorite season. What can I say, I’m a summer girl!

But I do like those gothic, dark and gloomy atmospheres in books, so I thought why not try to make a list of books that I actually like for the season?

Obviously there are not all of them, I would say that somehow these all have in common that kind of gothic vibe instead of, for example, a dark academia one (maybe for the next list?)

• the falconer - Elizabeth may

• the dark descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein - Kiersten white

• weavingshaw - Heba Al-Wasity

• one dark window - Rachel Gillig

• stalking Jack the Ripper - Kerri maniscalco

• alchemised - SenLinYu

• a study in drowning - Ava Reid

• the warm hands of ghosts - Katherine Arden

• belladonna - Adalyn Grace

Have you read any of these? Do you have any recommendations?

Who’s already rereading Threshing day? Because I did.
Only 200 pages and TONS of info my scheming brain is bursting with theories I loved getting into all the characters’ head and the dragons? Amazing.

I do think my favorite pov is actually Aaric? Omg. He was already high in my favorite character list but after getting into his head? Definitely my kind of character.

Can you believe that i still haven’t read this book?
I keep looking at it on my shelves and it’s always the wrong moment or i don’t have the time or I’m already reading something else and i don’t want to stop…

Do you have some unread books that you’re can’t believe you haven’t read yet?

Also i mean… they all look so pretty… i think Divine Rivals is one of the prettiest books on my shelves, Fairyloot made an amazing edition.
(And yes, a river enchanted and a fire endless are in Italian, the cover is lovely and the translation is actually good for once!)

Jumping in for a quick little post because yes I’m still on recovery schedule but it’s going very well and proof is that I managed to pick up the kindle and finish the arc of Under the Iron Sky and omg this book I was so happy to receive the arc but I swear I wasn’t expecting to love it so much.

I’ll do a proper review later but let me tell you: Star Wars esque worldbuilding somehow, in my mind was very reminiscent of the retro futuristic aesthetic of the saga, plus a true (and I mean it) enemies to lovers I was weeping of joy and omg the slowest burn ever.

Well, not ever because Cyrus of Nara exists but I would say… top 5?
