SYNCHRONICITY | Charlie Koolhaas

XVA Gallery is pleased to present Synchronicity, an exhibition bringing together three interconnected bodies of work by Charlie Koolhaas across photography, sculpture and painting.

Exploring the unexpected relationships between seemingly disconnected things, Koolhaas finds humour, beauty and meaning in the overlooked details of everyday life. Across each medium, coincidence becomes composition, revealing the extraordinary within the ordinary.

Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, 24 October, from 3–6 pm.

Exhibition: 24 October – 12 November 2026

ROUTES & ROOTS | Five Spice x XVA

As the second act of Charlie Koolhaas’ Synchronicity exhibition opening, Five Spice presents an immersive eight-course Chinese dinner in the XVA courtyard.

Through shared plates and authentic Chinese flavours, we travel back in time to explore cultural fluidity and hybridity through food, tracing how regional ingredients took root to shape the Chinese home table.

Saturday, 24 October 2026 | 6:30 pm
XVA, Al Fahidi, Dubai

Limited places available. Reserve your place via the link in bio.

OBLIVION | Summer Exhibition

To forget is not only to lose. Oblivion explores forgetting as an act of transformation, making room for new meanings, forms, and possibilities.

Bringing together works across painting, sculpture, textile, and mixed media, the exhibition looks at how familiar objects and images can be released from their original purpose and take on new identities.

What remains is not absence, but possibility.

Featuring:
Halim Al Karim, Basem Al Sayer, Jane Beveridge, Debjani Bhardwaj, Ala Dehghan, Nada Debs, Noel Duigan, Brian Gonzales, Mahmoud Hamadani, Halona Hilbertz, Sehr Karim, Charlie Koolhaas, Behdad Lahooti, Colleen Quigley, Akshay Sardana, Mukesh Shah, Yoshihiko Tsusumi, and Morteza Zahedi.

On view at XVA Gallery until 15 August 2026.

Dubai before the skyline.

In After the Image, @charlie_koolhaas returns to this Dubai through more than twenty years of photographs.

The exhibition becomes an intimate ode to Dubai’s concrete modernism, especially the city of the 1970s, 80s and 90s, before the skyline became its dominant image.

Set inside @xvagallery, in Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, the show creates a beautiful dialogue between historic Dubai, modern Dubai, and the many layers of the city that still exist beneath the one we think we know.
