so… i’m about to hit 200lbs lost. that’s 90.7kg for my british friends. i’ve never been the best at acknowledging my achievements (let alone celebrating them) so i’m putting this post out early to take some of the pressure off. what an unbelievable adventure it’s been. i always struggled with my weight. it was never an easy journey. i knew something really needed to change when the pain was so bad that i couldn’t take more than ten steps without fire running through my entire body. i started this journey january 19th, 2023 and have never looked back. weight loss is a shocking thing; you can feel the difference immediately. six months later, i took an evening walk and cried tears of joy in the town centre because i was able to complete a mile on my own. three months after that, i moved to england for the first time. there are so many things we all take for granted. being able-bodied is a massive privilege. as someone who has been on both sides, please use it to your advantage as much as possible. candidly, there have been some difficulties that i really didn’t anticipate. i’m still figuring out how to move in the world. in a lot of ways, i still feel like the girl in the last photo. some days, i sit and spend hours looking at the mirror, scrutinizing the differences to convince myself that i look different, feel different, am different. often, i feel like i’m carrying a massive secret. it’s as if i’ve had two lives and have to grieve what i lost, even when i gained so much. i chose this song on the post because it’s how i feel about myself. can’t believe that you’re gone it’s the strangest thing i’ve ever felt. but it feels like you’ve never left because i see you in everyone. while slightly bittersweet, i would go back and do it a million times over. i’ve made so many wonderful friends and explored a ton of beautiful places. thank you for all the support and love - particularly to my mom, who has always gone out of her way to help me through the hard parts. my life always felt like a coin toss; i’m glad i landed right-side up. apologies for the essay, thank you for reading, and enjoy the photos! divas who did not coordinate outf by @y4wn3r
