📖 Book lovers, this one's for you:

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at bookbinding?

For students in COSMOS's "Technologies of the Book" course, that curiosity recently became a hands-on lesson.

During a bookbinding workshop, students learned traditional techniques for folding, sewing, and assembling books, gaining a deeper understanding of the material processes behind the texts we read every day.

COMOS is a MacMillan Center Global Program devoted to the study of objects and materiality across the world.

Through hands-on creative experimentation, historical inquiry, and scientific exploration, COSMOS aims to understand the materials that shape our global cultural heritage.

"There's a spirit of joy and gaiety in my father, Roger DaSilva 's photos and I feel very close to his work. Restoring his images is about archive and memory and preserving and valuing African photography. It's a shared heritage." Luc DaSilva, Curator of Roger DaSilva Archives (@roger_dasilva_archives) and President of Xaritufoto. Our preserving photography and paper-based collections workshop in Dakar, Senegal, supported Senegalese practitioners such as Luc DaSilva, who are preserving and promoting Senegal’s rich photographic heritage.
