TRAGEDY OF THE COMMONS was a solo exhibition by Yasmin Caspin. In TRAGEDY OF THE COMMONS, the boundaries of the self and of relationships in the digital age were reexamined. From within the domestic setting of the exhibition, Caspin attempted to create a ground for intimate encounters originating in online dating applications, while the apartment functioned as a set for unfamiliar entities. Each space in the apartment forged a different character who inhabited it.
Although questions of identity and the constant need for a particular form of self-definition had characterized the preceding years, the exhibition proposed the possibility of disconnecting from one specific identity and transforming the self into an unlimited number of fragmented personalities. In the language of gaming, this was expressed through the wearing of different skins. The skin became a kind of shell or layer that could be replaced. It transformed everyday life into a passage through temporary states, in which we played a role and then moved on to the next position.
During her residency in LIFE CHAPTERS, Caspin conducted encounters with men. Each date reexamined structures of power while relying on the capitalist logic of “Take & Take.” by @yasmincaspin

During Drift Lab, I researched the Shikmona monitoring buoy, anchored to a 15-ton weight off the coast of Haifa. The research became a series of illustrations about floating, being held in place, and the desire for control.
