So why bears?

Discovering that they are the most magnificent creatures since moving to Canada I become so intrigued with observing the way they look and move through the landscape.

I knew at once I was hooked and wanted to create a collection to celebrate the bear.
But nothing I drew at the time felt right.

I let my inspiration lead me in another direction … or so I thought.
I focused on the details of the mountains and forest floor. zooming in on shape, pattern, and growth and that’s when I knew. The bear and the landscape are one, so beautifully intertwined and integral to the ecosystem. 🌿

I loved every second of creating the Bears in paintings and illustrations, I wanted to take it further exploring the animals' forms using the mud of the earth. Clay.

Sculpting the bears opened a new world for me, a new material and way to explore shape and character alongside to alchemy of glazes. Being able to physically hold these artworks in your hands if like magic to me. ✨

It brings me so much joy to release this second collection of ceramic sculptures celebrating The Bear. Each is one of a kind and of the earth. I hope you find the one to hold not only in your hands but in your hearts.

See you 10am Mountain time tomorrow 🐾

I think September is quickly becoming my favourite 🌼

The soft sunshine holding on to the last of summer as the trees put on a parade of colour. Nothing quite beats the sun sparkles on water and the reminder to go at your own pace. 💛

Hugely GRATEFUL for a slower mornings like this. 🍃

Feet in the water, flowers blooming and dozing in the sun. We have been working our socks off recently so this little bit of outside time to start the day filled my cup immensely. 🌞

What a week it’s been 🌬️🍃

I rarely paint large scale pieces from the off but this place was calling for expansive uninhibited scribbles and I’m in love with the outcome!

I took part in one of the windiest markets on record, and with my artwork being relentlessly blown across the car park I still managed to end the day feeling so grateful. The supportive community who visit @canmoremountainmarket catching my work in the wind, the chap who shared his fruit simply to make my day better and bumping into old friends, hearing of all their creative ventures. This blustery day was an affirmation that I’m on the right track ⭐️

So many one of a kind bear sculptures found their new homes, so I need to get a wiggle on back to the pottery studio🐻

Being by the water in any capacity always resets and grounds me so I’ve also loved discovering some hidden trails, following the water and simply taking in the view.
