POSTS STORIES REELS

365 days. 12 months. 13 countries.

It’s hard to put the last year of my life into words. A full year ago I packed my life into 2 suitcases and a backpack. I hugged my family and friends for one last time for a while, and set off to the complete unknown. Just me, myself and I, well… and Mimosa 🐈

A year later I feel completely unrecognizable to myself. My heart feels fuller. My spirit feels uncrushable. My confidence feels higher and my life feels, more me. This year abroad didn’t fix all of my problems. It didn’t hand me the golden key to a perfect stress free, exciting life. Instead it gave me the opportunity to express myself. To discover who I am outside of the 4 walls I put myself into back home. It allowed me to sit with my thoughts, dig through my anxieties and push myself into a feeling I fight often, the feeling of not knowing what’s next but going for it anyways.

Before I left I felt like I was experiencing something I never had before, I couldn’t handle hard things anymore. Everything crushed me. Everything broke me. It wasn’t me. So, I challenged myself to do the hardest thing I’ll maybe ever do in my life, start over, and build a life that makes my soul happy instead of continuing to act like it wasn’t killing me. To understand that a decision today is not a decision for the rest of my life. That I can change, at any time. I can say no to what I don’t want and say yes to the things I deeply love in life.

Travel is where I feel the most myself. It’s where I feel free. It’s opened my mind and my heart up so much, it’s allowed me to slow down while also experiencing so many different things at once. They say if you want to hate the world watch the news, if you want to love the world, go experience it. I promised myself when I turned 30 that I’d do things differently, I wouldn’t put myself on the back burner like I did in my 20s. So here we are, 2 years later and I can say I’m making my way towards feeling like myself again. I’m finally my own biggest fan, and I’ve found a home within myself for once 🤍

What a beautiful year. Onto year ✌🏻 Thanks for rooting me on, love ya from afar 🫶🏼 ✈️ 🌍 by @ycam_stiles19

2020 has been quite a year, I’ve stepped out of my comfort zones in my professional life and have opened doors that have changed my life. I’ve put myself first, for the first time in my life. I’ve loved the people around me with everything I have, and have received the same love back. I’ve learned that in order for someone else to see your worth, you have to see your own worth first. I’ve welcomed the silence, I’ve gained a new love for being alone. For the first time, when I look at pictures like this one, I see a happiness that is deeper than the surface. As I head into year 26 next week, I pray that it shows me as much love as 25 did. Cheers to the best year of my life, and to my people who have filled my heart with so much love. ❤️ 🥂 by @ycam_stiles19
