Everyone starts somewhere.
For me… it started right here—with this door.
Read the caption.

I remember walking into that studio—nervous, overthinking, trying to keep it together. It wasn’t my first time in a studio, but it felt like the first time I was recording a piece of my life to put out into the world.
That thought alone made me anxious- like there was this fluttering, swirling, refusing to settle chaos in my stomach!!!

I kept asking myself—
What if I mess up?
What if I don’t know how to perform this right?
What if I’m too much? What if I’m not enough?
That constant fear of being judged… ugh!

And then I saw my name on the studio door and something just…woke up in me…. like I can’t fully explain what I felt—but I just knew:
This is it!
And I wasn’t turning back.

When the recording started, I found myself holding back—
I was afraid my voice was too loud, too emotional or too raw.
But then I reminded myself:
Wait. This is my moment
This is my story!

And I sang what I felt.
Not “technically right.”
But in a way that felt right to me .
“My kind of right.”

It was a mix of everything—nervousness, excitement, a little fear,
but also this feeling of freedom...
like something heavy was finally lifting off me.

It might not have been my first time behind a mic,
but it was the first time I felt like I was really letting a part of me out that I’d kept hidden for too long.

This is just the beginning…and I’m glad you’re here.🫂 Thank you for listening. 🖤

In a world where silence is often mistaken for strength, Alankrita Verma steps forward with her debut single “Voices in My Head,” a raw and powerful anthem born out of emotional exhaustion. Blending haunting piano, expressive vocals, and touches of pop, soul, and rock, the track doesn’t just tell a story — it screams it into existence.

Dear self, I’m so proud of us. 🖤🧿
So many stories these pictures could never tell.

I struggled with thyroid and hormonal issues, my mental health, and how I saw myself. I spent years hating my body, starving myself, believing I needed to be fixed.

I wish I could say that hatred came from within. But sometimes bullying begins with the people closest to you.
I guess that’s why it’s so important to be mindful of the people you surround yourself with.

I left home to pursue my dreams and isolated myself. Away from all that…I could finally hear myself.
My body carried every trauma and hidden battle. Every scar, stretch mark, change. Even when I cursed it, it kept carrying me.
Why was I fighting something that had been on my side all along? What if my body was never the enemy?

Maybe it was a calling. Maybe I was tired of being unkind to myself. One day I knew I couldn’t hate myself into becoming better. I wanted to care for my body because I deserved to feel good in it.
I didn’t start loving my body because it changed. My body started changing when I began treating it with love.
These years had breaks, setbacks, days when getting up felt like an achievement.

P.S. Getting out of bed and dragging myself to the gym is STILL the hardest part. 🥹😭

But consistency, to me, isn’t showing up every day. It’s finding your way back. Fall ten times, get up the eleventh. Sometimes that’s enough.

I’m still a work in progress. I surprise myself: “Wait, I can actually do that?!” How many versions of myself haven’t I met yet? I hope to treat them all with kindness.

I don’t see a before and after in terms of worth. Just the same girl, at two stages — both trying, learning, deserving of love.

To the girl in October 2024: I’m sorry for years spent hating our reflection, cursing our body, believing we had to become someone else to deserve love. You deserved it then, too. Thank you for not giving up on us.

To the girl in October 2026: look at us. Still figuring things out, but look how far we’ve come. I’m excited for who we become next — not because we’re incomplete, but there’s so much left to discover.

Dear self, I’m so, so proud of us. 🖤🫂🖤 by @yesitsalankrita
