Solo marlin
Casting lure
Off the top
Baitcaster
Standing fight
No gimbal(so many bruises on my tummy🤣)
It’s still kids size for black marlin but It’s my type of ultimate catch👍
Battled for 40mins, so many jumps, head shakes and dived under boat.
It was the toughest fish I’ve ever had and it turned to my best memory now.
Felt a bit like 40mins version of “The Old Man and The Sea”😆

Tackle:
Rod: iD Transworld 7power 5pieces pack rod
Lure: CAST “PTYD” Flying fish
Reel: Abu WM60
Reel handle: Studio Composite

We had so much fun chasing shallow water critters.

I seriously thought I’d hooked a monster flathead when a wobbegong shark took my lure in knee deep water 😂

My son caught his first little flatty on a soft plastic, and after watching me catch a few good ones on fly, he was super keen to give fly fishing a try.

Looks like I might have found my new fly fishing buddy 😆
Two big muddies were a special bonus 👌

13 minutes of give-and-take battle.
Haven’t caught a longy on light gear or fly lately, so this one was extra thrilling. My legs were literally shaking during the fight 😂
Pretty decent longtail in both size and condition. What a feeling catching them on a light setup.
Other than the longtail tuna, the snapper were chewing hard after the sudden cold change.
Big knobbies and a highfin AJ were unexpected but very welcome catches.
Usually Saturdays are packed with boats, but thanks to the rough weather we pretty much had the ocean to ourselves.
Braving the cold and rough conditions paid off with one of the best sessions in a while. Glad we went 😂

Rod: Palms Baymatic Sawara Custom
Highfin AJ
Rod: FCL Labo Ultimate Casting 7ft
Lure: Palms Slow Blatt Long 60g

Southern Saratoga are such beautiful and playful fish.
We all had a great time chasing them, with a few bass and some rare golden perch showing up as a surprise.
As usual, we lost a couple of big ones 🤣
Still, it was such a special time on this spectacular lake. Happy days.
Rod: iD For the beast 4-5power
Lure: North craft informer(Floating Vib)

Barra trip done and dusted.
Fuel crisis, rising water (48% → 68% 😅), no LiveScope… not exactly ideal conditions.

Still, first cast — first barra. Not a big one, but it lit the fire (we’d later realise how lucky that was).

We cast non-stop, covering every bit of water that looked fishy.

After a full day without a single bite, we were completely lost… until my mate stuck a solid 102cm barra — the biggest of the trip.

A couple more came during the night session, and that was it.

Tough fishing, but we all got our barra, found new water, and felt that rush chasing this iconic fish.

We’ll be back, chasing bigger ones!
*AI was used for one of the photos 🤣

Rod : iD for the beast 767
Reel: Conquest 300

Premature celebrations are dangerous…
We learned this the hard way… or maybe the funniest way 😂　*No AI used
Angler: Leo
Lure: Palms Breakhead 200
Fishing buddy: Lin
*It was his PB Spanish — almost DOUBLE his previous record. Amen 🙏

Fly fishing trip to end the year.
So much excitement even before the trip—tying flies and preparing tackle.
My main target was marlin on the flats.
The god of the wind was kind enough to give us two chances to look for marlin there, but unfortunately we couldn’t spot any. We chased black torpedoes instead, but getting them to bite was tough, and the numbers were low.

We tried the shallows for a bit and caught a baby GT. Saw a few bigger shadows, but they all spooked.
We also chased saratoga and barra while the god of the wind wasn’t on our side.

It was tough fishing—we lost one barra and a few good saratoga—but we had so much fun chasing them.
Plenty of lessons learned from this trip. We’ll definitely try again next year and hopefully land our dream fish.

Cobia and rainbow runner.
Both fish were powerful and gave me good time👍
my favourite fish to catch and eat👌

What a fish!

I had a feeling before heading offshore,
got a solid bite on the 2nd cast.
38.5cm bream 👍
New PB — upgraded from 37cm!
They fight surprisingly hard for their size.
