Photobook "帰海 RETURN TO THE SEA"🌊 LINK IN BIO🔗 The Wakimisaki Gion Festival is held in Wakimisaki Town, a fishing town in southern Nagasaki Prefecture. It's a so-called "fighting festival" with a history of over 250 years. Fights begin towards the end of the festival during the "handover," when the festival is passed on to the next year's host town. The reasons vary, from disliking someone's mannerisms to warding off bad luck. While there are many festivals called "fighting festivals" throughout Japan, festivals where people punch each other with their bare hands are rare. In this age of online insults and where violence is considered evil, is that truly right? If you don't like someone, you punch them directly, and then after the festival, you drink together and strengthen your bonds. I am against indiscriminate violence, but I believe that the kind of bare-handed violence seen in this festival is actually a form of expressing love. This primitive way of human interaction from 250 years ago felt incredibly fresh to me. The expressions on the faces of the people during the festival were incredibly rich, as if their inner instincts were awakened, and they all exuded an aura more like wild animals than humans. Perhaps it's because it's a fishing town, and they deal with the sea every day, living side-by-side with death. This photo collection captures fleeting expressions and actions that reveal the animalistic side of human nature. I would like to express my gratitude once again to the people of Wakimisaki Town for allowing me to take these photographs. ...I became interested in fisherman and have now started working on a deep-sea tuna fishing boat. #fight #祭 #festival #japan #straight_photography by @young__hama

If anyone knows a good way to take photos in -60°C, please let me know in the comments.🕊️ Looking at it like this, tuna fishing boats are huge, aren't they? Actually, the inside is divided into four decks: the fish hold where the fish are stored, the fishing area, living quarters, and the bridge where the helm is located. It varies from ship to ship, but our ship can carry about 300 tons (4000 tuna). I wanted to take a picture of the fish hold, but it's -60°C up there, so it's difficult to take a photo. How is everyone doing? I've caught 123 tons of southern bluefin tuna and am now heading to the next fishing grounds off the coast of Java.

This photo collection captures fleeting expressions and actions that cannot be fully captured in video. The photobook is now available for purchase online. Link in bio🔗 For those who can meet in person, I hope to see you at the exhibition. #straightphotography #喧嘩祭り #nagasaki #festival #fightfestival by @young__hama

【10m waves】 Oceanic tuna fishing boat, 6th month of sailing. Although we still haven't landed, the southern tuna fishing in the rough South Indian Ocean has ended. It was a job in an environment that could not be compared. If I had to say so, I felt like I was working in a fierce typhoon and earthquake. Waves can attack from the side. Fortunately, it was only a crack in my little finger, but of course I couldn't go to the hospital, and I couldn't take a break from work, so I still haven't completely healed. I was given a valuable experience of death and side by side. From the South Indian Ocean in the middle of winter, we will operate off the coast of Java in midsummer. It's the exact opposite of Japan. Well, take care, everyone. by @young__hama
それではみなさんまた来年 「Beyond the horizon」 I've never even done any proper fishing before, but I'm going to catch some tuna and photo. It's a deep-sea tuna fishing boat. The fishing grounds are Java, Mantle, and the southern Indian Ocean. I'll probably be back in Japan around March. Also, I got married. Respect to my family and friends who watch over me, even though I'm such a selfish person. My signal is sometimes connected and sometimes not, but I'd be happy if you could contact me at any time. I'm really seasick right now. See you all next year by @young__hama
