UPSTAIRS by @allaynacornell
Some of my favorite things at @houseparty.salon are the items around the shop that were ours when we were kids. The green and blue lava lamp was Blake’s, and the game systems were mine. I remember getting off the school bus, coming home, making pizza rolls , and playing these games with my brother. We put ourselves in the wall of this place. One of the most common things I’ve heard from new clients is they have never found a salon that they feel comfortable in. So I made it.
-
Here are some things I’ve seen happen in my shop already.
Clients talking to each other. Partners relaxing, and playing video games. People coloring in coloring books, and looking through stickers. People lounging on the couch. Oooooos and aaaaahs over the decor. Screams of joy when people see something nostalgic. Compliments on how good the salon smells. People dancing and singing along to the music. Clients complimenting each other, and wishing the other a “happy haircut”. And the biggest one of all people supporting me. Reminding me everyday that I can do this, and I deserve this. My clients are a major part of my why. Why I do this job, and why I’ve created this space. You are invited, and you are safe here. 🫂

Fairy Hair & Makeup with Wednesday
Today Wednesday hosted her first class at @houseparty.salon
She demo’d the hair, makeup, and I did the tinsel ✨
The concept , and design of this class was left entirely up to her. Huge shout out to everyone that came, and supported her today. It truly means the world to us.
-
When I told Wednesday I was going to be opening a salon she asked if she could 1. Be the owner and 2. If she can host classes and summer camps. Hahaha. Today we made one of those things come true. The whole time the only thing I could think was “this is girlhood” 😭 Today was so much fun , and I cannot wait to see what she cooks up next ! 🖤

Every past version of myself still lives in me. So I do it for them. To show them we can do the hard stuff, we can succeed no matter the obstacle. I do it for the strong willed child, and to the lost rebellious teen. You guys taught me that there’s nothing embarrassing about trying. That being told no is just setting you up for the yes you didn’t know you needed. I do it happy, I do it sad, I do it anxious, I do it scared, but I still do it.

Creating @houseparty.salon has been the most exhilarating yet most terrifying thing I have done thus far. There have been many obstacles, and lessons learned quickly. But I refuse to give up. I know what I am creating will be something really special. Not only for everyone else, but for each version of myself who is still rooting for me. To my inner child, I promise to make you proud. 🫶🏻

Happy Fall Equinox, here’s another absolute cutie pie gracing your feed this morning 🎃✨

This past Sunday I hosted an industry preview at @houseparty.salon and got to meet some people I’ve only seen on the internet. @masoncheeseberger being one of them. Aaaaand I’m absolutely obsessed with her. Mason has a suite called @electricwizardsalon and does a ton of really fun vivids. Since I am a cutting specialist, and don’t do any color I am always trying to build connections with colorist so I can send clients their way. I had such a fun time hangin, and giving Mason this cute ass haircut. Thanks for the support 🫶🏻🫂

WHOS THAT GIRL
Hi, I’m Morgan but my friends call me Morgue. And since you’re reading this, it means we’re friends now 👋🏻 * yay * Here are some fun facts about me that you might not have guessed by looking at me. I go crazy for a PSL. ( if you don’t, you’re lying ) I love musical theater. I was in show choir in high school. I know all the lyrics to every Disney Princess song, and annoy my child by singing them at the top of my lungs. I loveee a rom com. I’m sensitive, and a major empath soooo ya girl be cryin. Things you might already know about me, but I’ll share anyway. I love to read. I love to laugh. I love connecting. I love yappin about our shared interests, and I love hearing about yours. I’m a wife, I’m a mother, and now I’m a business owner. It’s a surreal feeling to have keys to a business. Like I just have this thing now. I created this really cool thing, and I’m in charge of it… * yells into the abyss * 🗣️ WHO LEFT ME IN CHARGE?! I am grateful to every moment that lead me here. Every no I received, and every person I almost became but didn’t… it all lead me here. To create this place where I finally feel at home in my career. A place that I have put a part of myself in the walls. I read a quote once that said “By living authentically as yourself, you naturally give permission and courage for those around you to do the same.” This is all I’ve ever wanted. And now I have the opportunity to create a place where people can FEEL this, and know it from the second they walk in the door. You are safe with me. You are safe here. 🫶🏻

How cute is @made.by.molly514 😭✨
I had such a fun time giving her this cut, and bonding over why we both got into this industry. Which is, We wanted to give people the hair nobody could ever give us growing up. Molly specializes in curly cutting, and her drive to develop her eye, and perfect her craft inspires me. Whether you’re 3 years or 30 years in there’s so much we can learn from each other. When was the last time you watched a coworkers consultation ? When was the last time you watched a coworker perform a service ? I challenge you to do so. I guarantee you’ll learn something new!

Let me show you how to style your wavy/curly hair using one product. @afterworldorganics Volume Cream Curl Whip has quickly became one of my favorite products of all time. It’s a volumizer , texturizer, mousse, and cream all in one. She really is THAT GIRL. You can use this product with our without heat, on short hair or long hair, and all varieties of curls. It gives the best soft finish that isn’t greasy, or crunchy.

One of the reasons I love working with indie hair brands is they align with my mission, and goals in this industry. There non toxic formulas deliver high impact performance with low environmental impact. I have been a low tox hairstylist since 2019, and I have tried sooo many products but afterworld truly takes the cake. Ever single product is top tier, and I will forever scream it from the rooftops!!! They are currently running a 20% off moving sale so be sure to stock up on all the goodies.

Watch me cut my own hair 👀✨
When I started growing out my pixie cut two years ago, I started the journey of learning how to cut my own hair. Even as a hairstylist I too have had my fair share of bad haircuts. As it started to grow, I got really attached to the length, and got nervous about anyone else cutting it. So I learned how to do it myself. Like I mention above. ITS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS. I’ve always been a fan of DIY haircuts, and am not a person who ever judges or cares if you play around with your own hair. It’s part of our creative expression, and some of the most iconic haircuts are self done. I always get asked for bang trimming tutorials so I figured why not make a whole video. I have been liking my bangs getting longer so I didn’t want to take too much off but I wanted to be able to show you guys the sectioning, and technique. I hope you learned something new in this video , and if you don’t want to cut your own hair... You know where to find me 🫶🏻
