Comment “SHIFT” and I’ll add you to the community 🙌🏼 by @zakmakesfilms

👋🏼 Hey, I’m Zak.

Ive realised people know me from my Instagram name and work, but thats where it ends.

Filmmaking is what I do, but it’s not who I am…there’s a bit more to me than this, so I thought it’s time I introduce myself.

I have a lot of other hobbies, passions and interests, just like you. If you want to see the work content version of me then check out @seniorfilms.

In return, introduce yourself! Drop a comment and let’s connect - through hobbies, business, coffee…a chat is a chat 🤌🏼

2025 was terrific, so ready for 2026 - LFG

(Let’s bring back ‘terrific’ as a positive adjective btw) by @zakmakesfilms

With NFL London returning in just a couple weeks, thought we would throw it back to our awesome shoot with @fanatics x @nfl.

Such a fun shoot with great talent and a small, agile team running around London’s American tributes diners, riding around in London Taxi’s and joining in with the British NFL fan base.

Byron Bay has so much to offer besides miles of beach.

A short drive inland and you’re amongst dense forest, thunderous waterfalls and quaint little artsy towns.

Whatever your idea of a good holiday vacation entails, Byron likely has it in spades. by @zakmakesfilms

“Charge what you’re worth” is so meaningless.

How is a freelancer supposed to evaluate their worth through their day-rate?

It comes from the value your services brings to the end client. Thats how you price big. That’s how you get out of the rat race.

Side note - this is the last lesson of the series! What a ride. The workshop has grown so much since I began it’s great to see.

Thanks for sticking with me and as always, I’ll see you in the next one. by @zakmakesfilms

Silverstone this year was an absolute whirlwind.

I worked there Friday, then had both proper race days to enjoy as a spectator.

There’s so many talented creatives there telling their own specific stories that I just wanted to present what it was like through my eyes as I just took it all in.

Which frame is your favourite? by @zakmakesfilms

£50k a month doesn’t matter.

As soon as you lose love for what was once your hobby you’re going to start to resent this business.

You can make a crap load of money but if you’re waking up everyday working for yourself AND wanting to do literally anything else, it’s game over.

Spec shoots, personal work, content trips - go and find that love again.

Remember why you started this whole thing mate. by @zakmakesfilms

What’s some of your “red-flag” moments? 🚩 by @zakmakesfilms

Having payment terms should be part of every creative operators workflow because late payments aren’t just annoying, they can be damaging to your business.

You need money to pay your contractors, invest into the business, pay rent, pay yourself!

But it also weeds out those that will take advantage of your laxity by being very late or worse, not pay you at all.

The bigger the project is the more important it is you get some money in advance - it doesn’t have to be 50% but even 20% locks in the agreement and gets the ball rolling.

It’s not about trust, it’s just business. by @zakmakesfilms

Not backing up your footage could cost you £1000’s

It’s even more appealing to get fast & loose with your storage system because of how expensive drives have become (thanks AI)

But the hard truth is, it’s STILL cheaper than losing a client over lost or corrupt footage.

When you get to a level of working with big, premium brands there’s literally no excuses that they will accept, so suck up the cost and do what you know you should do. by @zakmakesfilms

Here’s a little insider look into @discoversuri 2.0
campaign I directed.

This is the first of a series @seniorfilms are calling “The Whole Shebang”

Wanting to give even more insight into what our approach was, our mindset and how it was executed.
know!

This was really exciting for me personally because we were given the opportunity to produce branded format content that stemmed of what was essentially a bunch of interviews. It was creativity at full swing.
