As part of our CWP 9/11 25th Anniversary Remembrance Events, CWP is partnering with St. Paul & St. Andrew UMC to present a one night only performance of The Guys. A week after the attack, a woman finds herself helping a fire captain write eulogies for his fallen men. Over some cold coffee on a long afternoon, two souls find moments of connection, humor, and compassion in the face of grief. Based on writer Anne Nelson’s own experience, The Guys opened in December 2001 just a few blocks from Ground Zero. It ran for over a year with a rotating cast that included Sigourney, Weaver, Bill Murray, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, and many more.

In commemoration of the 25th anniversary, Anne Nelson and director David Skeist have enlisted actors Kevin Shea, the sole survivor of Ladder Co. 35 on 9/11, and Melissa Wolff, who has performed the play regionally and for numerous firefighter conventions and gatherings, for a staged reading and post-show talk back to reflect on the event and it’s legacy for New Yorkers and the world. by @zeitskeist

We have gathered to read and sing through all of Rubalee, now fully composed, and we are about to share it in its entirety for the first time. (And then for the second, and third times.)
As part of our Artist Space Residency at @pregonesprtt
written by Javier Antonio González with a score by David Skeist and Michael Rekevics.
Rubalee follows a pod of North Atlantic Right Whales as they embark on a treacherous journey south. What awaits them at the end of their migration may be just as foul. With black metal percussion and choral music.

During the break in a downtown play, a free-spirited woman pulls a disaffected smoker into a spontaneous—and surprisingly intimate—conversation about tobacco, mortality, and meaning. Intermission is a sharp, poetic encounter between strangers on the edge of change. Sometimes, the real show happens outside
