It’s almost time…🎄🎄🎄 by @zestestudio

✨Personal Work✨ I've been expanding my lighting gear going from 1 to 2 (sometimes 3 lights which is where speedlight can be just as helpful) Although you can still achieve what you need with just 1 light having that 1 or 2 extra truly makes things easier, such as lighting backgrounds and fill lights. I'm aiming to really hone in on lighting bottles especially and controlling reflections (which is no easy feat) and although there is always a need for retouching, eliminating as much as you can just helps with editing so much quicker 👌
PS. This @treadsoftlyaus Pinot Noir is delish! by @zestestudio

I asked for some advice a while ago about alternate ways of tethering; specifically with iPad as a more portable way when on location shoots. I've always tethered with a laptop and I wanted a lighter way for ease of working as well as physical when offsite. I hadn't had many reponses, those that did would say the laptop is still the best so far. So I gave it a go using a - albeit - very old iPad and @captureone for Mobile (scroll to see a short vid) - the app is subscription but with 7 day free trial. Not going into overly technical details, my top thoughts:
.
🌟 Obviously an iPad is easier/lighter to move around with + carry
🌟 The Capture One app is straightforward to use especially if you're already familiar with CO
🌟 Wireless tethering response is pretty quick - faster than cable strangely so the choice of the right cable is key (I needed a cable - it was that old!)
🙅‍♀️ Battery life is significantly shorter - especially on an old iPad - this test shoot was 1-2 hours and it held up, but on longer shoots it might be a factor
🙅‍♀️ Memory storage may be an issue, but raw files are stored on the memory card anyway
.
For now desktop is more reliable, keen to hear of anyone else's experiences / suggestions? I might consider testing again in future as it could be great to use on a quick on the go shoot - with a newer iPad 😅...! by @zestestudio

✨ Client Work ✨ This was an interesting project for one of my amazing clients that I occasionally also do some design work for many years now. The brief was an interesting one as it’s very often a hurdle that consultancies come across when wanting to showcase their work - not just relying on stock imagery/external sources. We agreed on a series of images that best supported their own successful case studies, which they could use across their online and offline presence. It was great fun to work on and a unique project at that!

Kicking off Autumn with a recent campaign shoot for @neverlandvineyards and their Alcohol-free Organic Thunder wine. We took the approach of having the props show off the tasting notes yet keeping a clean, warm and intentional styling.

Anyone else seen these in the shops lately? Special edition Oreos for BTS - Brown Sugar Pancake flavour - admittedly kinda hooked on it, the pack didn't last very long at all...😆 by @zestestudio

Sometimes when you need a subject to shoot you don't always have to go out and buy it, look at what you have already around the house. That's the part I love about the creative world - thinking on your feet and working with what's around you. These olives are a beautiful green, but it's the glisten and shiny-ness that I wanted to caotyre, and up close was the best way to capture that. Plus they are a perfect accessory to a Dirty Martini 🍸 by @zestestudio

✨ Personal Work ✨ When honey is so good you want to put it back in the bottle to save it! @hilltop_honey is my go to - from waffle toppings to granola and dressings, it is so versatile. by @zestestudio

Oozing into September...and getting into comfort foods like pancakes, pastries and in this case waffles 🤤 I forget how yummy they are and in 2 minds of getting a waffle maker. What do you think is it worth the hype / effort getting one...? Or is it one of those things where its used for 5 mins and then lives in the cupboard for the rest of it's life 🤣.
I’m in process of replacing all my softboxes that either don’t work for intended purpose or I no longer use, giving me a chance to play with more hard light in meantime. Although now the seasons changing it’s very soon time to get that soft lighting back into gear🕯️ by @zestestudio

✨️ Personal Work ✨️ I'm amping up the ol' portfolio to include more projects I'd love to work on - especially during the holidays where everyone's taking a well earned break. I've made the most of the summer in the UK although the extreme heat waves have not felt very 'summer holiday' 🥵! We've been making alot of salads during those hot days, and I do recommend this @toss_dressing Green Goddess dressing - what I especially love is the little kick from Dijon Mustard in this sauce, yummers! by @zestestudio
