🇺🇸🇬🇧 The Okavango Delta is world-famous, everyone knows it, at least by name. It is located in Botswana. The huge river has different names depending on which region it flows through. In Botswana it is called the Okavango, in Namibia it is called the Kavango and finally in Angola the Cubango. We want to find the source of this renowned river and show you the origin of the Okavango here.

🇬🇧 🇺🇸 Making the impossible possible! 🌍✨
About three years ago, we were faced with a choice. A lung cancer diagnosis and only half a lung left. The doctors' prognoses and advice were clear: Stay at home. 🛑🏥
But we set off anyway – with our Zetros – against all reason, heading towards Africa and all the way down the West Coast, through deserts and the deepest rainforest. And today, we are standing here. 🗺️🚛
Take a look: A picture is worth a thousand words. 📸🏆💪
Our message to everyone out there who is fighting a tough battle right now: Never give up! ✨ Believe in your dreams, no matter how strong the headwind.

🇵🇹 Tornando o impossível possível! 🌍✨

🇺🇸🇬🇧 We continue along a corrugated road to a gigantic canyon landscape. Colinas of Curoca. Here, nature has carved huge towers into the rocks over centuries, colored in beautiful shades of red. These are up to 25 meters high.
Again, we find great photo opportunities, but take a look for yourself

Colinas of Curoca.

🇬🇧 A beautiful moment on our adventure through Botswana 🇧🇼.
We found them, hidden deep in the Makgadikgadi Pans.
🐾 Timon's meerkat family, Timon himself was of course out and about again, as usual. 😂

🇺🇸 🇬🇧 20 KM. That was it. 💥🚛

We thought we were finally back on the road. But after just 20 kilometres, the clutch failed again.

What followed was a real ODYSSEY:

Four more clutches were shipped from Germany. In total, we spent 2.5 months stuck at the workshop – waiting, hoping and worrying. 😓⏳

Thanks to the incredible support from @ZFSachs1 and a huge thank you to Klaus Neumann, we were finally able to get going after all. 🙌❤️

The price?

A FIVE-YEAR ENTRY BAN FROM SOUTH AFRICA – for overstaying our visas. 😳🇿🇦

Give up? Never. 💪🔥

NEXT STOP: BOTSWANA! 🇧🇼😍

🇮🇹 20 KM. Poi è finita. 💥🚛

O preço disso?

CINCO ANOS DE PROIBIÇÃO DE ENTRADA NA ÁFRICA DO SUL – por termos ultrapassado o prazo dos nossos vistos. 😳🇿🇦

Desistir? Nunca. 💪🔥

PRÓXIMA PARADA: BOTSUANA! 🇧🇼😍

🇺🇸 🇬🇧 OUR SMILES ARE BACK! 😁 ❤️🚛

After 2.5 weeks of waiting, our new clutch has finally arrived! 🙌🔧
And the installation actually went relatively quickly. 🛠️🚛
Now there are just a few minor maintenance jobs left, and then it’s finally time to fire up the engine and get back to the adventure! 🌍

This enforced break has held us up long enough – we’re really looking forward to being back on the road! ❤️

🇮🇹 IL NOSTRO SORRISO È TORNATO! 😁 ❤️🚛

🇺🇸 🇬🇧 A true legend 🚛❤️

Forced to wait, we’ve actually stumbled upon the great-grandfather of our Zetros! Registered for over half a century and still going strong!

What an incredible achievement by Mercedes engineers. 👏

If our Zetros lasts just as long, it might end up outliving us! 😂

Now, be honest: who among you drives a vehicle that’s 50 years old or older? Tell us in the comments! 👇

🇺🇸🇬🇧 Oh God … 😳

Nobody knows what a Zetros is. They simply don’t exist here – at least not anywhere in the Southern African region. And the workshop? Packed to the rafters.

So, naturally, the only option is to work on it right there in the parking lot. 🔧

After almost a day and a half, the gearbox is finally out … and that’s when the full extent of the disaster becomes clear:

The clutch slave cylinder has blown, the clutch is completely burnt out, and quite a few other things have decided to give up as well. 😱

And, of course, there isn’t a single spare part anywhere in Africa that fits our Zetros.

So … parts have to be ordered from Germany, which means at least 14 days of waiting. 🙈

Well … time to do some laundry and come up with a new plan. 😂

Because one thing is certain now: we’re not getting out of the country on time.

But give up? Not a chance.

After all, we’re travelling with THE BEAST – A ZETROS 6x6. 💪🔥

Let’s see what adventure comes our way next … 😎🌍🚛

🇺🇸🇬🇧 Sometimes, a journey writes its own stories … ❤️🌍

We were actually on our way to Zimbabwe. But in Bronkhorstspruit, everything suddenly came to a halt. 😳

Our clutch gave up – and there we were, stranded in the middle of South Africa. There was no way to continue under our own power.

So we had to call a recovery truck, hook up the Zetros and have it towed to Daimler Trucks Southern Africa in Centurion. 🔧🚛

And the funny thing is, we had only just spent three weeks in a workshop and were so happy to finally be back on the road. Our last post started with the words:
“Three weeks in the workshop … Back where we belong.”

Well … apparently the beast had other plans. 😉

And now things are getting a little exciting …
Our South African visa expires in just two days. 🙈

So, for the moment, we are officially a little stranded in South Africa, waiting for our Zetros to get back on its feet – or rather, back on its six wheels.

All we can do now is keep our fingers crossed, keep our nerves, and hope the repair gets done quickly. 🤞🍀

Because there’s still another country waiting for us: Zimbabwe. 🇿🇼❤️

But that’s probably what overlanding is all about: You plan the route – and Africa writes the itinerary. 😉

We’ll keep you posted …
To be continued! 🌍🚛✨

The Beast is back on the road.

🇮🇹 Tre settimane in officina…
Di nuovo dove apparteniamo. Questo è ciò che ci mancava.
La Bestia è di nuovo su strada.

🇧🇷🇵🇹 Três semanas na oficina…

A Besta está de volta à estrada.

🇺🇸🇬🇧 The wait was worth it—just look at this result! 🧀✨
The Camembert has aged to perfection, delightfully creamy and soft on the inside, and tastes like an absolute dream. "Cheese making in an expedition truck" has turned out to be a great success once again.
Now we’re going to enjoy the fruits of our labor—handmade culinary bliss on the road really doesn't get any better than this! 😋🍷🚐
