Upcoming Exhibition | Myths from Elsewhere: Anders Brinch & Zhou Yilun Duo Exhibition Deltainst is honored to present the duo exhibition Myths from Elsewhere by Danish artist Anders Brinch @anders_brinch and Chinese artist Zhou Yilun @zhou_yilun1001 . As a special project of the Inter-Studio Initiative 2026, it introduces a curatorial residency for the first time, in collaboration with Copenhagen-based platform Three Points @threepoints.art and its co-founder Cila Brosius @cilabrosius . Stemming from the artists‘ shared curiosity about what lies beyond their immediate cultural horizons, the exhibition explores imagined ”elsewheres“—not distant realities, but landscapes filtered and reconstructed through pop culture and media. Visually, both artists are obsessed with ”accumulation“ and ”assemblage,“ generating a tension between the everyday and the surreal. Their shared use of the ”foreign body“ motif refuses to let it serve merely as a symbol of horror, but rather re-encodes it within contemporary culture. Opening Reception: China debut by Danish musician ROXY JULES @roxy.jules . Duration: Nov 7, 2026 – Feb 28, 2027 Opening: Nov 7, 2026 (Sat) 15:00 Venue: LOUNGE, Deltainst, Hangzhou, China Address: Rm. 101, Bldg 7-2, Zhijiang-Yihao (W), Bolan Rd., Xihu District, Hangzhou Curator: Cila Brosius Cooperation: Deltainst × Three Points Support: Danish Arts Foundation @statenskunstfond , S.C. Zhou Yilun’s practice often involves remaking everyday objects that seem to have become superfluous — ranging from internet images to decorative gadgets and furniture. In a lighthearted and unconstrained manner, his work frequently parodies symbols and images, through which he critically examines the potency of the medium. By dismissing, unsettling, and improvising relationships between form and content, he reconsiders modes of production overshadowed by the monolith of modernism. 1 (left): Zhou Yilun, All have their privileged vantage point, 2024, Foam, polyurethane, acrylic, 224 × 100 × 45 cm. 1 (right): Zhou Yilun, It has perhaps already lost everything, 2024, Foam, fiberglass, polyester putty, plywood, cement, 230 × 68 × 65 cm. 2: Zhou Yilun, After generations, 2024, Aluminum, 170 × 35 × 35 cm. 3: Zhou Yilun, Be verifiedIron pipe, 2024, cement, wood, acrylic, resin clay, 173 × 108 × 80 cm. by @zhou_yilun1001

A punk kid turned college dropout, Zhou Yilun (@zhou_yilun1001) has become a young pillar of Chinese contemporary art. From collaborating with Louis Vuitton on an exclusive capsule sneaker to foraging worldwide for materials as a self-proclaimed ‘compulsive collector’, Zhou develops an oeuvre inspired by ancient archetypes, Eastern and Western religions, and pop culture, creating art that challenges perceptions of identity and authenticity. For Apartamento issue #35, Rui Hua (@ru_ih_ua) visits Zhou in his studio in Hangzhou’s western suburbs, a neighbourhood full of artists, to discuss his practice and the ‘civilisations’ his works embody—amalgamations of symbols, languages, and histories, driven by a real curiosity for place and shaped by the inventive necessity imposed by China’s religious and political restrictions. As Robbie Whitehead (@robbiewhitehead) captures the liveliness of his home, Zhou’s world reveals a relinquishing of hierarchies: noble and reclaimed materials have equal status, shipping crates are used as walls, and copies of European frescoes bring us directly into a world of ambiguity between timelessness and the ever-changing art market.
