The flight of Icarus.

3,400 miles, 6 days.

Unfortunately, a defective firewire initiator ended her flight at 39,000 ft after failing to ignite the sustainer. The highest OSU has ever flown, with a 30-pound payload.

The team is still filled with pride and joy after undertaking this massive effort and validating critical flight systems for the future Spaceshot!

Cowboy Space Program and the Laboratory for Advanced Rocket Propulsion graciously thank @okstateoaire for their massive support towards this project, as well as the @zinkcenterokstate making our trip to Black Rock Desert possible!

Stay tuned for what’s next. by @zinkcenterokstate

@okstatemae Welcome Back Bash

WELCOME. BACK. BASH.

On August 28th, OSU’s Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering students kicked off the fall semester at the MAE Welcome Back Bash, hosted on the first floor of the Endeavor Building.

The event gave students the opportunity to connect with MAE’s student organizations and learn more about ways to get involved in the department. Groups in attendance included Bullet Racing, Cowboy Racing, Cowboy Rocketworks, and Pistol Pete’s Propulsion Posse. These groups, all supported by the Zink Center for Competitive Innovation, showed off their projects alongside SGT, ASME, Tau Beta Pi, AIAA, and ASHRAE.

Getting involved early is one of the most valuable steps a student can take in their engineering education, and events like this make it easy for students to find the right project team from day one.

New semester, four clubs to join.

Whether you want to build off-road vehicles, racecars, rockets, or jet engines, there is a competition team for that. Zink Center is proud to support all of these teams.

Career fair is next month, and these clubs are great for building your resume with hands-on experience.

Choose your crew to join!

Three teams, one HOT day, and a lot of great conversations at Lights on Stillwater. 🚀🏎🏁☀️

This past Wednesday, Cowboy Racing, Cowboy Rocketworks, and Bullet Racing had booths set up at Lights. These teams spent the day showing the OSU community what competitive engineering looks like!

For students who are exploring their options, this is where you can get hands-on experience to build your resume and skills.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and stuck it out in the heat with us!
