10/03/2024 <Activists burnout>
The immigrant daughter holds the family together.
She carries the language, the traditions, the sacrifices, the stories of those who came before her. She learns to be strong because someone had to be.
She shows up for her family, for her community,
for the cause, for the people who need her voice.
But sometimes she wonders
Who holds her?
Who tells her
that she doesn’t have to
carry everyone?
Who reminds her that she is allowed to rest?
Because our communities need us but they also need healthy people, rested people, whole people.
So, immigrant daughter,
community warrior, activist, caretaker pass the baton.
Not because you stopped caring.
Not because you gave up.
But because the work
belongs to all of us.
Let someone else carry it
for a while.
Let someone else speak.
Let someone else organize.
Let someone else lead.
And while you rest,
remember:
Your community is still yours.
You can love it
without losing yourself to it.
You can serve
without sacrificing your entire life.
You can step back
and still belong.
Y cúrate con ese amor que has given to everyone else.
Because the mission was never about
one immigrant daughter carrying it all.
It has always been
la comunidad.
La raza entera.

A huge thank you to @baylifechica @aka.dulce and @lani.tsunamii for walking me through this process 💛👑 by @01_labibis
