my poetic archive to the beloved riparian brush rabbit and everything it means to me🌹

Mixed Media Sculpture, 2025. Leather trunk, ribbon, lace, cardboard, merino wool, screws, steel rod, dried flowers from my loved ones, chicken bones, a broken mirror, coyote brush, and various grasses, a framed photo of sunlight through trees, and hot glue. Welded, glued, sewed, sculpted.

One of my favorite things I have ever created. I made this as a way of processing the cycles of grief, light, death, and rebirth brought on by a intense period of change in my life. #winterandfall2024. Ow. Riparian brush rabbits build their homes in Santa Cruz typically under coyote brush or blackberry brush, and you often will only see them outside of their habitat at dusk or dawn, or if it is nice out laying for a few moments in the sun never too far from their cover.

I was very inspired by @yourarmsaremycocoon ‘s “death of a rabbit”. this album communicates a lot of what I can’t put into words myself about this piece, I am eternally grateful for this album. a secret is that the entirety of “death of a rabbit” is printed on the paper and folded accordion style

fun fact: the last day I had to work on this I did an all nighter in the art dept I had looped crest by Bladeee and ecco2k most of the night without realizing and broke the mirror by accident and also burnt myself welding by @0rbweav3r

my senior show opens this Thursday 6-8:30pm 🐦 it will be open until May 27th in the Eduardo Carrillo gallery, located in the UCSC Art department. I’ll be showing much of what I’ve made these last 5 years in Santa Cruz. The title was taken from this poem my friend sent me Ty Allie by @0rbweav3r

One of my most treasured things I’ve made is this doll!! I made it originally as a Valentine’s Day present for vi but I got way too into it and now that’s Lowkey twinn
I made the clothes, the face, and all the accessories from clay, wire, cotton stuffing, and fabric. Stamps made by @violenttart by @0rbweav3r
