🎾 Want a more consistent tennis serve? The answer is in the MATH! 🔢👇
Stop guessing how high to toss the ball. There is an actual biomechanical formula to find your perfect toss peak, and it’s entirely based on your height!
Here’s the breakdown:
1️⃣ Your Reach: Your shoulder height + your arm length equals roughly 1.26 × your height.
2️⃣ The Constants: Add your racket extension, your jump height, and a slight ball drop before contact (which averages out to about 0.90 meters).
✨ THE FORMULA: 👉 ⁠Toss Height = (1.26 × Your Height) + 0.90⁠ 👈
For example, if you are 1.8m (5’11”) tall, your ideal toss peak is 3.16 meters (about 10.4 feet)!
⚠️ Why this matters: Tossing it way higher than this formula suggests gives gravity more time to accelerate the ball downward. A faster-falling ball drastically shrinks your timing window, leading to mistimed hits and lost power. Keep it at the mathematical sweet spot for the cleanest contact!
