No. 50 has dropped. 4 years and counting of the 1080 Newsletter! Thank you to everyone who has participated in the series so far. It’s been a great run. Let’s hope for 50 more.

As we had started the series 4 years ago with a piece by Tilghman Goldsborough @human_goldberg it’s only right to celebrate our 50th with another missive by him! “Smooth Brain On Bullshit & Nothingness” is a pointed way to usher in a midpoint in the series. Thank you always Tilghman for your writing and friendship!

If you have fallen off the mailing list in recent years, please DM to get back on. If you no longer want to receive these missives pls let us know. If you would like to sign-up, to receive this and future newsletters please DM and consider a small donation to help keep the series afloat. DM for info on how to donate and include your full name and mailing address.

Forever thank you for your readership and friendship all these years. To many more. by @1080press

The July newsletter is now here…more delayed news on the way! But for now we are very excited to announce that “Consensual Hacking” by Melanie Hoff @melanieh0ff is a part of the series, No. 49!! ❤️‍🔥

The newsletter is a free missive that is mailed out every two months, six times a year. It is an essay written by a poet on the subject of their choice. Essay being loosely interpreted / or for that matter as literal as one could want.

To sign-up and receive this and future newsletters from the press please DM with your full name and mailing address. If you are in the process of moving or are about to move, maybe wait until the move is complete to sign-up. Many newsletters unfortunately get returned or are lost in the mail.

As always, please reach out, say hi and stop by if you’re ever in Kingston, NY and would like to see the print shop. Thank you always! by @1080press

Welcome to our 🔎 More About 🔎 series and celebrate with us the small presses, authors, and books from our Small Press Subscription Program!

Our third and last small press, author, and book from the May Bundle, which you can sign up for by April 15th [link in profile], is…

📚 1080 PRESS 📚: a publisher and print shop based in Kingston, New York, focused on keeping poetry in print—especially work that, in the spirit of Leslie Scalapino, reveals the mind at work in the making of the poem. Through collaborative book design, offset printing and production bookbinding, we hope to connect the writing we publish directly to the production of the book; and work in gratitude to the poet printers who have come before us.

✨Sahar Khraibani✨: a writer, artist, and the author of Anatomy of a Refusal (1080PRESS, 2025) and ONE THOUSAND GHOSTS IN THIS FEAST (Wendy’s Subway, 2025), and at the center of the cyclone everything cracks (Belladonna, forthcoming).

🦵Anatomy of a Refusal (2025) 🦵 A quote from the book’s description: “Written after the Beirut Port Explosion on August 4, 2020, when 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate exploded in the commercial and residential port of Beirut after years of warning and mismanagement, Anatomy of a Refusal drifts between lineated and prose poetry, creating a transitional space of mourning.”

Q1: What challenged you while putting your collection together?
A1: I would say the biggest challenge (and relief) was coming to terms with the fact that this body of work will have a life of its own, and would exist independently of me out in the world.

Q2: How would you describe your relationship with space (on the page)?
A2: tension, relief, acquiescence.

Q3: What was the very first line you wrote in Anatomy of a Refusal?
A3: "our loved ones demand honesty but all they really want is fiction"

The course will culminate in a small scale exhibition of the books in CPW’s Community Gallery in the summer of 2026. Authors will have the option to sell copies of their books through the CPW Bookstore and Photobook and Zine Fair on August 8 & 9. @cpw_kingston

The February newsletter is now here by Madeleine Braun @madeleine______rose , “Flip Your Lid”. Very grateful for Maddie and all her work.

After 3.5 years of newsletters we are finally switching up the format a bit. With the increased price of, well, just abt everything, we will be shifting to a two month mailing schedule. There will still be a newsletter for every month of the year, however there will only be 6 mailings a year instead of 12. It pains us to make this shift, but with the mailing list being over 800 subscribers it’s a necessary adaptation.

With that said, the newsletter is still free and if you would like to receive Maddie’s or future mailings please send us a DM with your full name and address. :)

-as always, thank you for your readership. ❤️‍🔥 by @1080press
