Om, hello, I’m Anand Ken von Roenn III. I’ve been practicing and rocking the mat since 1995. I’ve studied many styles with many great teachers, which led to the development of Skanda Yoga, an alignment-based power vinyasa system. Check my website and YouTube videos for more information and free content. This picture is a throwback to my first yoga shoot @yogaeastlouky back in 2001✨🧘🏻✨ #yogateacher #padmasana by @108anand

🌍Ⓜ️, Yoga is not an action to perform — it is a truth to embody. 🕉️

Patañjali describes three layers of truth that unfold as our practice deepens:

🔹 Subjective Truth (Sūtra I.7 – pratyakṣa)
What we directly perceive — shaped by our senses, culture, upbringing, and mood. Valid for us, but filtered and changeable.

🔹 External Truth (Sūtra I.8 – tadrūpa)
Seeing things as they are, without distortion. Objective facts that exist beyond our personal projection.

🔹 Universal Truth (Sūtra I.48 – ṛtambharā prajñā)
Truth-bearing wisdom beyond perception and concept — aligned with ṛta, the cosmic order. The reality that is always so.

✨ The Universal Truth of Yoga is simple: we are already united. Whole. Complete.

Yoga doesn’t require us to become something we’re not — it invites us to remember what we already are, by stripping away the layers of thought, belief, and distraction that obscure our innate freedom.

🧘‍♀️ The art of happiness lies in moving from the shifting lens of subjective truth… to the clarity of external truth… to resting in the unshakable peace of universal truth.

🌿 This is the path of Yoga: not a doing, but a being.
Not performance, but presence.
Not becoming, but remembering.

⏺️Ⓜ️, This is my special assist for Viparita Chakrasana, reserved for students who have the strength to take light hops but can’t yet make it up and over. The assist lets them feel the full movement—giving the body a reference for what they may one day recreate on their own.

“To arrive at that which you do not know, you must go by a way you do not know.”
— St. John of the Cross, The Ascent of Mount Carmel

Backbends embody the mystery of life. 🌌To move back, we must first move forward. 🔄We can’t see where we are going or what possibilities await us. The future is uncertain, yet the more fully we move forward, the deeper we can go into the unknown—revealing what would otherwise remain hidden from our awareness.🪎

🙃ⓜ, I was taught that when you find your alignment in headstand, the arms become “just decoration.” Staying connected to the midline creates the stability to move between variations with control. When the familiar becomes easy, exploring these transitions is a fun way to challenge your balance, focus, and precision. #yogateacher #inversiontraining by @108anand

𝐎𝐦, There’s a saying in yoga that we become the company we keep. Back with my Miami sangha, I was in good company—and one thing we all have in common is that we kick asana.

I finally stuck Ashtavakrasana from tic-tocs, along with Eka Pada Koundinyasana II and Bakasana. These breakthroughs feel even sweeter surrounded by friends who inspire you to keep exploring.

Shout-out to my community of all-stars. @skandayogastudio 🔥🙏 Om Saravanabhava✨🦚✨🐓✨ #yogateacher #viparitachakrasana by @108anand

Munduk, Northern Bali 🇮🇩

We spent some days trekking among waterfalls and dragonflies. 🎋

⛺️ The glamping experience was at Desa Eko (friendly people, great location). There are nice guesthouses & accommodations to stay around.
🍲 We really enjoyed the local food at: Adila Warung and at The Melanting Eatery.
📸 And for a great view of the lakes, drive up to Twin Lake Viewpoint and order a Nasi Goreng! 😜

Thank you @108anand for sharing these moments with me.

♨️ 冊 , What did I learn in Bali? For starters, Rocket Yoga practitioners go super hard! 🚀💪🏻

Practicing alongside dedicated yogis reminded me how much the people around us can inspire us to grow. Poses I thought I’d lost became possible again. After 30 years of practice, I’m still learning—and still discovering what I’m capable of.

Beyond the mat, Bali’s people left the deepest impression. Their daily offerings and reverence for nature bring the sacred into everyday life🍃. I came home inspired to make more room for devotion and ritual in my own days.📿🪔

Then there were the hikes and waterfalls of Munduk—the kind of place that stills the mind and leaves you in awe.✨

I returned grateful for Bali, and even more appreciative of my home on Koh Yao Noi🏝️, Thailand. Travel can open us to new possibilities while reminding us how much we already have.

Thank you @marinadurancoach for sharing the yoga, adventure, and good times✨🙏🏻✨💖✨ by @108anand

Great climbing this weekend in Krabi at Spirit Mountain ⛰️ ✨🧗🏻✨. We were blessed with great weather and got in full mornings before the sun hit the wall 🌄. Thanks so much for the invitation @nokkhonok @coachmahindraraj ✨🙏🏻✨💪🏻✨ by @108anand

O̴m̴, The waterfall moves. The rock holds steady. Skandasana asks me to do a little of both.🦚

In each variation, I shift my weight, bend one leg, and extend the other. I need enough strength to stay grounded and enough freedom to move. Pushing harder isn’t always the answer; sometimes a small adjustment reveals a better path.

That’s what the warrior spirit of Skanda means to me. It isn’t a fixed stance or a display of force. It’s the ability to meet change with adaptability —to remain steady without becoming rigid, and to move without losing your center.🔱

The pose changes from photo to photo. The practice is finding that balance in every version.

🧿ⓜ, In meditation, we cultivate stillness. Yet beside a waterfall, we are reminded that life itself never stops moving.

Everything is in a constant state of becoming. Places change. Bodies change. Relationships change. People enter and leave our lives. Even the experiences we consider sacred cannot be held onto forever.🛐

Yoga does not teach us to stop the flow. It teaches us to find the center that remains steady within it.☸️

This is the meaning of sthira—steadiness without rigidity. To be rooted without grasping. Present without trying to possess the moment. To love people, places, and experiences completely, while knowing that eventually we must let them change, let them move, or let them go.💟

Even the breath cannot be held forever. We receive it fully, hold it for a moment, and then we must release it—emptying ourselves so that we can open again to what comes next.

The waterfall never holds onto the water that passes through it.

Hold your center.🧘🏼‍♂️
Surrender to the flow.🏄‍♂️
Om to the Sri.📿
