Join 10C for a Community Wealth Building Town Hall on October 14th 🏛️ 10C has invited any of the candidates interested in discussing community wealth building to a town hall discussion hosted on the 4th floor from 6:00-8:00pm. ⁠ ⁠ What is the Community Wealth Building Lab? 💡⁠ The Community Wealth Building Lab is an initiative led by 10C that advances education and research on community wealth building: the practice of building local economies where ownership, investment, and benefit stay rooted in community. ⁠ ⁠ The Lab delivers courses, workshops, lectures, and community learning programs across a range of connected themes, including placemaking, arts, leadership, financial literacy, food systems, social enterprise, social finance, community real estate, and community development.⁠ ⁠ This is the work 10C has been doing in Guelph for years. The Community Wealth Building Lab seeks to carry it further, in collaboration with many networks and organizations leading the charge here in Canada and internationally. ⁠ ⁠ As municipalities in Ontario, BC, Manitoba, and Prince Edward Island hold local elections this October, now is a great time to bring a discussion around community wealth building into town halls, and to the kitchen table. ⁠ ⁠ All are welcome, please register at our link in bio as well as view a shared resource and questions to ask municipal election candidates. October art is now up at 10C! Come see the quilting work of Joan Hug-Valeriote, she has 2 shows now available for viewing. ⁠ ⁠ Seasons (main floor) 🍂 – Celebrate the seasons that make Canada home. From the vibrant colours of fall to our fleeting spring, rediscover the beauty of Canada through every season.⁠ ⁠ Retrospective 25 Years (2nd floor) 🌀 – From quilt shops to art quilts, California changed everything. Discover Joan’s journey from traditional quilting to an eclectic life as a textile artist.⁠ ⁠ Joan Hug-Valeriote is an award-winning, professional quilt/fibre artist. She is a recognized Ontario Artist who was subsidized by the Ontario Arts Council as a Visiting Artist in Education in Ontario schools over a ten year period.
