This might be one of the most important interviews I’ve done so far.

Unless you grew up with him, I honestly don’t think the internet knows this side of Jabree, better known as @10kbree .

This conversation touched me because the evolution he’s talking about is one I believe a lot of young Black men in Baltimore struggle to make.

How do you go from being that kid who needs attention, validation, acceptance, money, love, opportunity, or somebody to believe in him, to becoming a man who learns how to go get those things for himself?

And I’m a 33 year old grown ass man who has lived through more ups and downs than I could ever fit into an Instagram caption, and even I still find myself battling pieces of that younger version of me sometimes.

That’s why conversations like this matter.

A lot of our young men are carrying shit they don’t know how to put down. They’re trying to become men while still responding to life from the wounds, survival instincts, and needs of the kid they used to be.

We have to find better ways to help them make that transition.
